Really think Lainton should be catching that corner. It’s only 3 yards out, and he was stuck on his goal line. Much as he’s a decent keeper this is his weakness. I was hoping the new gk coach would work on this. Fantastic assist for our goal though.

I think we all hoped we would hit the ground running, but unfortunately as we know the resources at our disposal don’t guarantee immediate success.

If you listened to the FID podcast with the podcaster from Stockport, then the guy who owns them is worth £800m, more than our 2 owners put together. They have been doing everything we have started doing behind the scenes for at least a year and are setting up as Championship club. They have been strengthening their team for at least a year and they didn’t even make the Playoff final last season.

It’s going to be a hard task to get out of this league.

I can't remember the last keeper we had that collected a cross, particularly from set peices.,.
Be as good as a double digit of goals the other end if we had one.

PP is clearly fuming and you can see that it hurts. It's a good sign.

Football is a simple game. If you don't head the ball away from your own box you're in trouble. One thing we are seeing in every game is how good other teams are at dealing with us aerially.

We lack aggression and height in our own box and it's the cause of most of our goals conceded.

The pressure is already starting to build on PP and you can see he's not comfortable with it from the press. There's only one way to sort that out and that's to win football matches.

I think he's got the following glaring issues, none of which he can buy his way out of before January :

No back up goalkeeper. Dibble is shocking

Neither current wing backs are good enough

None of our current 3 CB's are commanding the aerial battle. We are desperate for a Creighton character to head everything and scare strikers. Our 3 are all silky but don't fancy the nasty stuff

Where do I start with midfield. Young is miles out of his depth. Jones is OK but needs a general alongside him. We miss JD's creativity. 2 signings desperately needed

Mullin and Hyde are top players at this level but Angus and Ponticelli in particular are just not good enough. We need a minimum of 1 striker, possibly 2 as back up

All in all we have big problems if we want to challenge for top spot. Scraping top 7 if we maintain this squad for me at best

5 or 6 signings required in January to even have a sniff at the title but it may be too late

PP has a huge task keeping us in touch until then

Ben Foster was an exceptional keeper who commanded his box. Lainton’s biggest failing is that he doesn’t, which puts our defenders under pressure.

In fairness to keepers in this League..At corners, ok it's like a bar room brawl in the six yard box..But freekicks coming in at a more diagonal angle looking for the flick on possibly the keeper could deal with..

Agree with you about the fouling and obstruction during corners. That’s up to the refs and FA to deal with. I quite like the idea of a 10 minute sin-bin for a second Yellow Card.

But watch the number of crosses Lainton misjudges or leaves. That’s where the GK coach needs to improve him, but suspect he might now be too set in his ways.
