A lot of people will look at how much we paid for him and judge based on that but I dont think that's his fault.

We have been spoilt defensively in a way as that's how Keates made us play but neglected the attacking side. We now have much better forwards but are clearly struggling to service them given the midfield deficiencies.

We look like what we are which is a team in transition that needs time to gel and is maybe 80% to where we need it personnel wise.

The problem is the money spent and the expectations which rightly go hand in hand with that which means a gap between expectation and reality.

I fear this is actually a 2 season project but of course no one can come out and say that out loud.

Nothing against Tozer, I like him.

I guess I think our defense has been v.poor so far and as the senior member of that defense, he's open to criticism.

The organisation for the goal we let in the other night was shambolic. Everyone could see they had a free man at the back before the kick was taken. Seems a lack of organisation and discipline.

I suppose that is a fair point, in that we are missing Pearson's leadership at the back as communication across the backline is not as good as it was, though that could be down to the fact the defenders are still relatively new to each other and this element could improve.

I actually think that our defenders are better in open play than previously, considering the constant bombardment they receive due to our failings in the midfield. Set pieces are an issue, but that can be ironed out and is not a huge concern to me right now. If we get to December and these issues are still prominent, something will need to change there.

Two sensible interviews - realistic and recognise some of the issues

When they watch the video of the goal they will be shocked. It was plain to see one of their tall CB’s unmarked. Surely Lainton should be spotting this and calling it out

Poor organisation giving away a cheap goal - again

So refreshing to hear his honest assessment no hiding behind excuses.

They were certainly the better side by a mile, what worries me is on paper apart from Young that is our best eleven , certainly not good enough to win this league.

Fingers crossed we can stay with the leading pack and get some quality in come January .

Issues with defence has been primarily caused by midfield. there is no-one in front of them. Granted, that wasnt the case on Tuesday, but generally it has been,

I wonder if we would have pursued Tozer if a. Brisket didn’t get injured, b. Pearson didn’t jump ship last minute to warm the Grimsby bench.

Every week we’re getting the “ not good enough” line wheeled out either by a squad member or PP.
Well, do something about it then.
It’s wearing thin now sorry.

Good interview from Tozer.

He knows it just isn't clicking, he probably knows the midfield isn't helping the situation (obviously he can't say it) but he's honest enough to admit we've got to get more aggressive and organised when defending set pieces.

Interesting he mentioned "managing the crowd"
That comes down to not conceding a stupid early goal as it kills the atmosphere and as he said it took a penalty save to get it going.

We've got to get right at it from minute one at home to build the atmosphere and the crowd will do the rest.
