Using the same logic, give me Carrington before Hayden anytime. Or even Steve Watkin before Mullin, as the latter is all too clever at pretending to put the effort in.
Wow, some really controversial comments right there

Leaving aside how bad Wxm may have been, I think that bit’s a red herring to be honest. People look at that fact and think we’re Liverpool and they’re S c u n t h o r p e, ergo we’ll murder them. Nothing could be further from the truth as the gap between the non league steps is so much less than in the League. Just because some of the grounds lower down the steps are a bit iffy doesn’t mean all the players are.

Don’t get me wrong, of course Wxm should have been professional and turned Marine over but this sort of result was always a possibility. Aldershot got turned over today by a struggling step 3 team (Marine in contrast are flying in step 4) and of course Chester were humiliated by a step 4 club at their place in the last round. These results happen.

Fair point, but it’s not just this result. We have seen a deterioration in performance and attitude in every game. Huge budget and real problems.

Attitude and performance all comes from the manager. Get someone in who can motivate the team, play to their strengths and each player knows their job then they will look like world beaters. Just because they may not be running around like headless chickens a la rutherford doesn't mean they are not or don't want to work hard. If the manager cannot motivate them then of course the team are going to look not arsed.

I’ve watched them. They are not working hard enough. The only players I would excuse in terms of effort from what I have seen are Luke Young, Hyde, French, McCalinden, Lainton, Cleworth and Tozer. Some are atrocious eg James Jones the most anonymous midfield player in history.

I think Watkin at 50 may struggle to compete for 90 minutes.
