The buck always needs to stop with the manager. I know he is constrained by transfer window but he knew the situation when he got into the job. If there are players who are continuing to not do what is expected from them, then why are they not dropped. We have signed players on big money who aren't performing to the standard that you'd expect for their cost...Tozer and Hayden being two of the ones id call out, Reckord is seemingly going backwards. James Jones, another big money player is now starting as a sub??? Who plays dibble (no disrespect to him, because as a conference no2 he isn't the worst out there) when lainton is fit enough to make the bench?

I want us to give a manager time... But we are nearly 25% of the way through a season in which the quality of the teams around us gets higher and higher each year. Every time we don't go up it gets harder to do so.
Absolutely. But equally he deserves the time to put that right. I have no doubt he will get the full season, and January transfer window, to sort it out.

Things will get harder if we don't go up this season, but we have the resources to be able to keep building. This season we are going from a standing start (and months behind Stockport, Notts County, Chesterfield etc in the rebuild) l so its going to take some time.

What would you like him to say?

I think it is worth watching these post-match interviews to see the manager’s reactions provided you don’t take it just at face value.

PP isn’t the ranting type, so the comments about a lack of passion demonstrate a lack of understanding of the man. He was not a ‘happy bunny’ about the weak defending and the Red Card decision by the linesman who was the only one to see anything. That incident changed the game even though we had already conceded 2 sloppy goals in a few minutes.

All the hard work to get us back in the game is then wasted by another defensive cock-up when we lose a 2 v 1 for their winner — their only real effort in the second-half.

Fans are correct that the buck stops with PP. Our performances so far have not been conclusive and are too often second best. Essentially, the team performances are not as good as the individuals’ are capable of giving. In Mullin we have an exceptional player at this level, but he is not getting the support he needs.

Saturday’s game has the potential to become a circus full of joy or horror. Best PP gets it right with our ineffective defenders (mostly on the LHS) whilst also playing football on the ground if the newly relaid pitch allows.

“Do you like circuses? I love circuses!”

Imagine where we’d be without Mullin. Scary really.

I don't get some of the negativity for PP. I like the guy

Much more articulate than that idiot Keates.

You can see how deflated he is there. Never made any excuses and praised the players for their efforts but is clearly frustrated we haven't won.

He deserves the chance to recruit again in January because this is only half of his team. Reed picked the rest.

I expect us to reach the play offs then he'll really need to earn his corn by winning them

Yeah I can understand all that... Part of me wants instant success, but the rational part is saying that's not an option. Just find it frustrating because with worse players we have comfortably been in contention for the playoffs so many times but I can see us missing out this season.

So it was the slope and linesman that did it.

Well said, we all feel frustrated, but this is the start, 11 games into what should be a rise up the leagues. At the moment we are very inconsistent.

Barnet beating Stockport and Wealdstone beating Grimsby shows there are very few “easy” games.

Like you, I think much of the anti-PP rhetoric is out of frustration and poor appreciation. However, he is the man paid to sort it out.

Saturday will be a real test of players and fans, as the pressure is slowly increasing, especially as R&R will be there and the expectations will be sky-high. Torquay are not the force they were last season, but their manager is a wily old fox, and he would have been at the game last night.

We need to keep doing the good stuff, but tighten up the defence. Is Lennon a better option at LB? He could then rest Reckord, who has gone off the boil.
