I'm not sure, the article I posted from Rob Griffiths in the daily post specifically relates to questions asked about the trasnsfer window, and he just states that Wrexham could take players from other Welsh clubs, although added that will change in March 2020, when all clubs are prohibited from bringing new players in.

Outside the transfer window we can only sign amateur players and those that were unattached at the end of the previous window

The only club in the league to be bound by a transfer window

Now, for the cherry on the cake, after being here for 14 long years scratching around with "build the budget" and bucket collections while we've watched bank rolled pub teams grind us into the dust, we have the first bit of luck ever and the whole league turns on us because our sustainable model isn't fair !!

F**k me, this promotion when it comes will be the sweetest and most deserved in football
Don't forget the £250,000 bond we had to pay before the 2011-12 season. No other club, before or since, has had to the same.

That reasoning is kind of how I remember it too. And I’d presume that because we haven’t actively gone to get players from Cardiff/Newport/Swansea when we’ve needed them outside of the window means that we probably can’t. Is confusing though.

Do think that we should be lobbying to be treated the same as the others - no idea who that would be though. Welsh FA? English FA? National League? EFL? UEFA? FIFA?

Gateshead had to put up a 200k bond a few years back I believe

Didn’t Gateshead have something similar?

Your general point is right though. The fact that Dover didn’t have to this season, for example, does grate. Owner literally used the fact that the club is bordering on insolvency as a reason for not completing last season.

I wasn't aware of that. Obviously, it didn't get the media exposure that ours did, due to our supporters raising the money to pay the bond. I bet they got more notice than we did.
