Re: Grimsby's spending concerns
And just a bench warmer at best and failing to get on the pitch off that, good to have around the place though they say. It’s just a waste of money which he doesn’t seem too concerned about is what my thoughts are.

Re: Grimsby's spending concerns
Can’t be upset at either Pearson nor Grimsby. Pearson shouldn’t be getting a game in our current first team, his wife was from the Grimsby area and Grimsby wanted him for his leadership qualities and league experience rather than as a first team regular. Pearson did brilliantly for us whilst wearing a Wrexham shirt and in my opinion should always be welcomed back at the club (if for no other reason than the fact that he gave so much back to the community off of the pitch and was Mr Wrexham for a long time). Good professional, good guy and family man who did what he did in the best interests of his family at the end of the day.

This is about Grimsby kicking off because they've lost a few and can see us closing the gap so they want to take their ball home now |

Re: Grimsby's spending concerns
Laughable thing is that rather than putting huge debt on the club, i fully expect we’ll be one of maybe a handful of National League clubs balancing the books and running a profit due to the large amount of sponsorship income (driven of course from our new owners) coupled with big gates, shirt sales, etc.
Who are the teams who are really spending more than they can afford? Why should, for example, a salary cap hinder ourselves, who are run within our means, rather than other teams who are chasing a dream they cant afford? Financial fair play should apply to all clubs in the league. |

Re: Grimsby's spending concerns
Just read Guardian article (much better) and actually agree with 95%. The model he describes is very much like the one R&R are implementing here, stewards not owners. I just disagree with the suggestion of caps on pay structures and bonuses and would instead support a cap on spend as % turnover.
