I think there's supposed to be a vote before the end of the season.

From the NL website after last season's AGM...

"An ordinary resolution was voted in favour of by member clubs to introduce a salary cap from the 2022-23 season (the National League's minutes did not state amounts although it has been reported the suggested figures will be £900k per year for each Step One club and £540k per Step Two club).

A working party represented by clubs will consult with the aim of bringing a full proposal to the 2022 EGM for the membership to vote on"

Agreed. Equality of opportunity, not outcome. Wrexham have multimillion pound sponsorship, some of the highest gates outside the championship, and huge shirt sales as well as other commercial income. Why should our playing budget be artificially suppressed, so that someone like Kings Lynn can compete, even though their money comes from their owner. Same as Solihull, Forrest Green, Fleetwood etc. Etc.

Has anyone heard from Les GTFC recently? Came on here all high and mighty when they were top, telling us we had no right to expect automatic promotion and Grimsby were building something special...have the wheels come off?

Completely agree, isn’t this how it works in the EFL? Saying everyone has a max spend of say £800k is bonkers

Looks like Les is keeping his head down after his over the top previous remarks. It was interesting to note he never mentioned the parachute payment Grimsby got when relagated !

He seems a nice enough lad, Les, but I never did get the love in on here towards him. When they were last in the NL, I only ever remember him coming on here to gloat. You rarely heard from him when we were having a better season than them.

Quite. A subtle WUM yet most were in love with him.

Jason Stockwood is a multi millionaire with a mansion in Alderley Edge who himself is pumping money into Grimsby. John Fenty the chairman before him did the same for many years when fan owned Wrexham were going around with the collection buckets. He’s just annoyed others have more than him. Can’t wait until January when we raid his squad.
