Default Narrow pitch and lack of goals at the Racecourse

Our once notoriously big pitch is now considerably narrower, and although it’s there to aid the long throw I can’t help but think it possibly works against us? Teams are finding it relatively easy to contain us and we don’t often get in behind teams especially down the flanks.

We’ve got no one on the flanks, our wing backs play way too deep.

Agreed - which means they are basically not wing backs. Our insistence in the first half on only using the left wing was baffling for us and also ,it seemed , the players.
I am reasonably certain the pitch was narrowed before we signed Tozer so do not believe it was done for throw ins.

If you ask enough questions all of our problems come back our now infamous pathetic midfield.

Because we can't trust our midfield with the ball we play 40 yard balls down the line or 60 yard diagonals which work out 1 in 10. The other 9 in 10 the opposition pick up possession and we are on the back foot again. We make average teams look good.

Sort out the midfield, sort out 90% of our issues. We then play through midfield, we play 10 yards higher up the pitch, we can play through mf to our wingers and slip balls through to Mullin to run on to.

It is incredibly frustrating to watch just now. If the lad Trafford is even 70% fit I'd play him for an hour tomorrow or stick Tozer back in there because this mf is killing us.

The pitch is narrowed i dont know why?? Then to play a wing back system on a narrowed pitch seems lunacy all round.

The pitch has been the same size for over 20 years. Blame the players who can't use what we've got properly. a couple of metres ain't going to make a difference.

The players are terrified of a big crowd.

This so much. We had a midfield on Saturday made up of Davies who flattered to deceive, Jones who was well off the pace and Young who does absolutely nothing of any note other then clap.
