But like I said, both mean so much to me. Our difference is what makes us unique. I also get very confused by non welsh speakers who seem to hate our own language. We really are a funny bunch

I work with UK and Welsh Government and trust me, they are all as bad as each other.

However, many of the issues they face cannot be solved perfectly. Often, it is a case of doing the best to mitigate the risks and provide a reasonable solution or service. However, we are spending a lot of tax monies and not necessarily getting value for money. This is pertinent to the central and devolved governments. I too am ex-RAF. I consider myself Welsh and British, albeit I am a non-Welsh speaker. I have no issues with the use of the Welsh language, except when it is used as a political tool to bar highly competent, English-speaking personnel from getting key jobs within Wales.

My sister works in education in gwynedd.... When she was taken on 30 years ago.....she was informed she had been the best candidate...she got the job... However her lack of welsh was an issue...(wxm born & bred) She had to undertake a 2 year probationary period doing intensive welsh language courses till it was adequate enough to be permanent... It was unreal the vitriol she recieved from local colleagues who felt her job should have been given to a local first language welsh speaker.. The "welsh language mafia"...can do more damage than good at times |
