Default Budget cap next season in the national league

God forbid we are in the national league next season, what's the latest with the proposed budget cap starting next season, and how would that affect us?

I would think 8000+ crowds would help.

There was a proposed cap on budget being the same across the board, regardless of incomings, think was around 900k?

Just wondering if this is definitely going to be implemented.

It won't happen. The PFA brought a case against it when they tried to introduce it in the EFL and it was stopped, the same thing would happen in the National League.

Some form of FFP might be introduced at National League level, but that would probably benefit us as I'd imagine we generate more revenue than every other club. A flat salary cap won't happen though.

Even if it did

Our current contracts would have to be honoured

A few years ago we’d have been all for it, now it’s the worst idea on earth. I love how fickle we are.

WE’RE flipING RICH!!

Im all for Financial Fair Play but not a budget cap.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...s-26673518.amp

I don’t see why the National League cant just follow UEFA and presumably the EFL:

“Now, a report by the Telegraph claims that this method will be replaced by cost controls similar to Uefa's new plan to keep expenditure within 70 per cent of revenue.”

“Hinting that the EFL will fall in line with Uefa, whose rules state that a club’s total expenditure on transfers, wages and agent fees cannot exceed 70 per cent of its revenue”

Steve Cleeve did an article on it in his local rag, it was actually quite good!

https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/kings-...ry-cap-8930306

it all needs to be voted on anyway, and it will be a percentage of turnover. Heaven forbid, we should be ok most likely

scary though is that he reckons Kings Lynn may be operating on just over £4k wages a week in the NLN, it will damage a lot of the lower leagues

The National League has been stronger than ever this year as a result of the bigger clubs investing in better players. If the League implement a form of budget cap, the standard will diminish and this will result in reduced attendances and less publicity from high profile deals and games. It makes no sense, unless you are a fan or the chairman of a smaller club like Kings Lynn or Weymouth.
