5,500 New Kop - Stadium for the North Campaign

A Daily Post backed campaign has been launched to get people to support the bid for funding for the new Kop.

The scheme includes upgrading the site's old 'kop' stand to seat 5,500 fans, broadcast and floodlight facilities, a 400 space multi-storey car park and ground works for a convention centre and hotel. A group of sports fans from across the region have now come together to launch The Stadium for the North campaign and give the bid the funding bid the best possible chance of succeeding.

The overall plans for the redevelopment of the stadium will include a mixture of public and private funding to make it happen. However, the redevelopment will need UK Government levelling up funding to kick-start the scheme.

Article calls it a "once in a lifetime opportunity" and asks everyone to sign the register of support to get it over the line:

The article refers a few times to the campaigns 'spokesperson' but does not give a name. Who is behind this latest campaign?

Article also suggests you email your MP. I am sure many will have already raised the Racecourse upgrade within the Gateway scheme to elected members and some funding has already been allocated.
I understood that the Council were already working on plans and initial work was already underway around the rail station. It has Atherton and Griffiths support as well as other N Wales politicians.

I suppose another campaign will be fine - as long as it doesn't confuse the efforts already being made.

Given that the OP is Spencer, it's not difficult to work out who is the spokesperson.

Support it, but wish they'd use the official government petition scheme.

Up the Town.

I am sure I read that Atherton had raised the matter at QT with the PM recently. It certainly needs moving forward, the sight of all that boarding round the old Dickens garage complex, not a good look for first impressions of Wrexham.
