So the Welsh Government hasn't put in any money, as yet, for the Racecourse side of the development.

You go to all the trouble of making a great fanfare to raise the awareness of the campaign for The Racecourse to become The Stadium for The North, invite two sporting heroes to make speeches for the cameras and nobody can hear a word they are saying because all the sound recordist is picking up is the wind.

Only in Wales.

Isn't the money that is being spent by WCBC to get it underway sourced from WG?

The Daily Post has a standing invite from WCBC to speak with Lead councillors and the Chief Exec etc monthly but hasn't taken it up for years.

I genuinely hope they unleash Mr Caws at that as it would be good for the area.

£2.5m injected by WCBC (from the WG cash) and planning application due in, land purchased back in 2020 etc.

Lots been going on in recent times.

Levelling up cash has to be spent by March 2024 so tight window if that is going to be used, so things will move very quickly if that source of funding is unlocked - which I believe it will be.

"Money has been allocated by the Welsh Government, £25 million to do the eastern side of the Wrexham Gateway development. What we need now is to find the money to do the western side which is the football ground side."

That is factual.

Wrexham Council agreed in Feb to put in around £2.5-3m to the west side - basically the Kop bit - to get things going. That was funded via the Welsh Gov cash, so it is not direct WG funding, but basically is.

I don't think WCBC / WG etc would get the project going unless it was going to complete, and showing a project can complete inside the time frame is important to get the levelling up cash.

It is good people (not a pop at Caws etc) are taking an interest now - who knows what could have been done earlier with the same effort, could we have got levelling up in the first round and be well on our way?!

Perhaps a petition will sort things out. Anyone of another petition just to cloud the waters?
