Default Re: 'Only' 23000 tickets sold

The geography of the area (and I know a lot of fans going on Sunday will be exiles like me) is and always will be a factor here though.

We have got to let's say a core support of 8-9,000 a week maybe even a bit more than that because Wrexham/NE Wales is, was and always will be an area far more keen on football than most of the UK is.

With the new stand, league football be that next year or soon, and success that is a really good base.

But the Wrexham/NE Wales area isn't huge in terms of population nor that wealthy and whilst we have great support along the coast and into Mid wales these aren't places where that many people live.

Go over the border and you have 4 of the biggest clubs in the country and real football hotbed areas Liverpool/Manchester very accessible so there is probably a limit to what extra support we can get in NW England though I know we do have fans on the Wirral even Merseyside itself.

I think this proves to me what I've always thought with a winning team and success/the great story with R&R we get to 10K fans a week very easily. That is massive for a none league club, amazing.

But even if we got back to say the Championship I think you can get from 10K a week to 15K a week but I think the proximity of Liverpool, Man U, Man C and Everton probably stops us going much over 15K regulars

It is an important match as its the next match and its a cup final. May not be as important as the play off final match for sure, but at the moment were not in the play off final.

Yeah, 23k would be a great amount if true.
We would only have got near the 29k we were allocated if we had won the league and were making it a party.

As another poster said, i don't think a lot are 'new' fans...just the ones returning..

I thought there would be more and that we would sell out or get them to release extras. I think that the way to sell tickets is keep momentum, the idiotic 6 tickets per St and huge timeframe for these and Members lost sales momentum.

Looking forward to the day of course and Jnr is a mascot through playing for the academy but just hopped we sell out?

Was that hope over ambitious?
I think the way sales were done may have had some impact on numbers, but it’s an impressive total whichever way you look at it.

I also think there’s an extent to which people overestimated how many tickets we’d sell.

I'm not going. I was very excited and was organising with my son to take my grandson who all live in the South but are not members but they have the shirts. I was very disappointed with the ticket sales approach especially as I was only being allowed to buy 1 ticket and therefore unable take the others with me. I'm a distant supporter and happy to travel across the South to away games on my own, I don't want to go to Wembley alone. Isn't it supposed to be an opportunity for families and friends to come together. Seems more like a closed shop to me and not what I was expecting from a club that reaches out to new the community and wider. I know I could wait and pick up seats at the end but the shine had gone from the experience I hope to go to the play off final, assuming we get there, but I'm not hopeful as I expect similar ticketing. Perhaps others that live afar also don't want to travel to such a big day alone and want to share the day with the nearest and dearest. I'm resigned to watching the cup final on the telly. Sorry to have contributed to a lower uptake of tickets than you expected.

23k would be a decent turnout. Plenty will have hoped it would double as a promotion party and I know some who held back on purchasing a ticket and now will focus on hopefully two play off games. The PO final -should we reach it -will be an expensive event for families especially transport wise. I also know some who bought tickets for the FAT final but now won’t be attending in order to save their cash for, hopefully, a PO final at the London stadium which is obviously a much much more important game. Good to have such decisions to make (ie seeking success on two fronts) I suppose and without being blasé, if you’ve seen us win the FAT before, then Sundays game isn’t going to trump 2013.

I just don't get all this moaning about the way the tickets were sold, there were always going to be enough tickets for everyone. There is no way we have a current fan base of 29,000 willing and able to travel to Wembley. We have a fantastic fanbase, as evidenced by home gates this season but let's not run ahead of ourselves. It's going to take a few years and much more success on the pitch before we can sell out 29,00.

I had to wait to the general sale to get the number of tickets I wanted and that's exactly what I did, I waited patiently and bought them when it was my turn.

The shine and excitement of going to a Wembley final was still there when I bought them, I didn't let the minor inconvenience of having to wait to purchase them get in the way of looking forward to a day out in London.

Another example of people creating a big issue in their minds when the issue was really only a minor one

That's fair enough. But surely now there is scope to get tickets together and if everyone is up for it you may as well make a day of it?

Plus, as you say, the ticketing arrangements will be similar for the play off final too... though with it being at West Ham's stadium i'm guessing there will still be plenty available for general release if you decide to go to that one instead.
