In Scrabble you get 9 points for ‘City’ but only 7 points for ‘Town’.

If you cheat — proper nouns not allowed — you get 22 points for Wrexham but only 14 points for Wrecsam.

Neither Dref Wrecsam nor Diana’s — Freudian slip by Apple spellchecker — Dinas Wrecsam gets you more points.

So, Wrexham City on a ‘treble word’ would be good.

Within a few years all the young kids who have just started supporting Wrexham will only think of us as a city as they will have grown up with it. It's great if it raises our profile. UTC!

Agree. I see even our MP (Lesley for Wrexham apparently) can’t today bring herself to see it as good news. I’m waiting for a “congratulations” from Drakeford, but it will probably be the same mealy mouthed response as Griffiths.
