Trust statement from the 10th August 2011:

Wrexham Supporters’ Trust is in awe of the heroic efforts of supporters to raise £140,000 (subject to confirmation of final amount) yesterday towards the £250,000 bond required by the Football Conference. This is a remarkable achievement by fans from all walks of life and demonstrates the passion, commitment and ownership that the supporters of Wrexham Football Club feel for their club.

With Wrexham FC having a green light to start the season and compete in the Blue Square Premier season 2011/12, we believe that a successful start on the pitch and the ownership of the club off the pitch will now become uppermost in the thoughts of Wrexham fans. It is vitally important that Dean Saunders and his team are able to focus on the former of these priorities and the intention of the Wrexham Supporters’ Trust is to work on the latter and to takeover the running of Wrexham Football Club by the end of August, subject to the approval of financial due diligence, the finalisation of the terms of the sale and on our meeting the requirements of the football authorities.

During the next 2 week we are confident that our professional advisors BDO LLP will sign off our financial due diligence, that the Trust and the football club owners will agree the assets and liabilities to be transferred from the current football club to the new club, Wrexham Association Football Club and thirdly that the Trust will meet all of the football authorities’ requirements as we look to secure Wrexham Football Club in community ownership.

The Trust is today therefore proud to announce that the most significant Special General Meeting (SGM) in its history will take place at the William Aston Hall on August 24th, 2011 beginning at 7:30pm. Information packs containing resolutions and voting forms are currently being printed and members should expect to receive them in the next day or two.

The next two weeks are amongst the most important in the long and distinguished history of Wrexham Football Club and it is absolutely critical that fans turn out in force on Saturday to support the Dragons. We would love to see as many Wrexham fans as possible packing out the Racecourse on Saturday in support of their club as the future success of Wrexham Football Club will depend upon the communities of Wrexham and North Wales .

We will continue to update members and fans regularly with progress as it happens. In the meantime we’d like to wish the team all the best for the game against Cambridge United on Saturday.

In a way it was a big vote of confidence in the WST bid and takeover.

Fantastic achievement....so many came together with all of their savings, knowing the risk involved but this was far outweighed by the determination the club wouldn't die.
