Indeed If is a big word. he may have a good or bad season, this applies to any player, but based on his stats last season it would literally be foolish not to secure him down for longer. You can't guarantee anything in football but if anyone deserves a re-negotiated deal its him. You would imagine 43 goals (or whatever it was last season) should result in a minimum of 20 goals in League 2, which is still a really good number (no guarantee, but I would predict he will pass the 20 goals this season). If we were to lose him, whether its this level or higher it will be someone elses gain and our loss, I'm certain of that.

Its obviously a no brainer which is great for the club.

As for the comment saying he obviously doesn't believe in his own ability's, I don't think that is the case when players re-negotiate a deal. It's a case of getting more money (which he deserves) in the meantime and he knows full well that if the right offer comes along he can go. Letís not forget, contracts don't tie a player down, it just means your more likely to get a players true value should they eventually go. Itís a very simple case of protecting your assets.
Also itís security for him. Iím sure he is on a decent wage, but itís not like he can retire tomorrow. Running down your contract is always a risk as any player can get a bad injury at any time.

The constant comparison to Mullin is nonsense though. Mullin has already won the top goal scorer award in this league, heís proven and has been put under contract for a long period as a result before having to prove himself again. Langstaff signing on for more years to Notts County is good for County (particularly if you support County.. but I donít) Yet the player clearly didnít have a better offer or heíd have moved as he did to Gateshead the season before he joined County..Countyís win, Gatesheadís lossÖno loyalty shown then. If Langstaff is good enough heíll not be at County longÖmany, me included, thought heíd have left already. Letís see how he goes this season in the bigger pond but if you think itís loyalty alone thatís sealed the deal then you have a short memory and are in for a shock. Hardly bizarre to read a differing opinion on a rivals fans site is itÖlast year you hoped County would win the leagueÖI didnítÖbizarre??

When I compared him to Mullin, it was a very loose comparison, In reality I could have given any player that’s highly rated at Wrexham, any player rated highly would make sense to extend their contract. I’m very aware he’s done it at this level, he’s a great player.

I don't know if he got any formal offers but just because he hasn’t gone doesn’t mean he didn’t, clubs know they will have to pay good money for him. We have no interest in making some short term money it’s all about improvement year on year as also seems very evident at Wrexham too.

Yes let’s see how he goes, I said myself there’s no guarantee, but going purely on last years stats I would suggest he will have another strong season, but more than happy for people to have a different opinion on that.

I don’t think it’s loyalty, in fact I haven’t even mentioned the word loyalty at all so will be no shock from me. If you read my post I said if he moves on that’s just football. Players come and go all the time which is the reason why extending the contract means we should get the right value if/when it happens.

I would not worry about it. At our current pace, NC and Wrexham are going to allow 230 goals this season. You can sign ML for 20 years and it won't make much difference currently

When will it sink in that when you're posting on a Wrexham forum you're going to get Wrexham bias, including hypocrisy and putting down the competition?

The most annoying thing about the Notts lot is trying to hold us to some sort of neutral standard. Complete lack of self-awareness. We're biased. We know. And it's not bizarre in the slightest.

Fair enough, I did wonder where that came from as I didn't mention it
