Default Re: Crawley Ratings

I find some of the ratings on here laughable. I was at the game yesterday and a lot closer to the action than most. Mcclean was gobby but was not given much service in the first half yet still assisted the only goal. Yes he could have been a lot better but he was nowhere near as bad as people are making out, neither was TOC. Not having Tozer at the back gave us pace at the back and apart from set pieces Crawley did little in attack once we went down to 10. Arthur was an absolute beast and even the home end daren’t have given him stick for fear of him giving some back…an absolute rock and was clearly leagues above (sign him up..sign him now…sign him beyond a £500k striker please…he is a concrete reinforced wall that takes a nuke to get through…sign him going forwards for the love of god!!!).

Away fans were magnificent, locals full of nothing but praise and check out the home interviews (Manager and Orsi - numpty who missed from a yard out!) both heap praise and don’t disparage unlike most opponents.

Thought the pitch surface was magnificent and the welcome good, understand those that cry non-league but with what they had they did their best to welcome the away supporters. Hope Crawley are given a fair reception back at Cae Ras…remember the length of journey folks please… it’s not for the faint hearted.

Delighted beyond belief to see three points returned to the only place that they belong. Come on the only reds!!

Mullin was absolutely flucked by half time, blowing harder than me running for the local bus!! He played well but is shattered after such a long week after his injury, others were also blowing. Parkinson’s tactics were perfectly played out post Cannonball’s red, Lee got called across and passed on the instructions. Fletcher was pushed up and Mulls put back…I was screaming for Jordan and to take Mulls off immediately and it didn’t take long (why have a midfielder/defender on the bench but ask a striker to play that role?!).

The team were superb but Jones and Arthur were exceptional. Hayden did brilliantly and Evans stepped up beautifully.

Palmer’s finish was inspired after Mccleans ball in…I’m in the photo shot which makes it even better!!

As a Crawley based red it was incredible seeing how many fans made the journey from Wrexham on official coaches…I make that journey every home match that I can attend (and have done for years) and it never gets shorter so huge Kudos to those that came.

If so, he's behind that for starting in midfield.

Default Re: Crawley Ratings

Okonkwo 8- positioning seems better than others
Mendy 7- brings threat even from right side
Hayden 7- solid all game
O'Connell 8.5- I asked for this prior to game and he.was very assured.
O'Connor 6- he was ok for me.
McLean 7- better on d at end. Solid crosses in. Maybe it's what he's told, but wish the long hopefull passes up would not be so frequent.
Evans 8- just excellent.
Jones 8- best game I've seen him play. Couple real nice passes up and provided good energy
Lee 5- just hasn't looked himself in a few games
Mullin 6- rounding into shape
Palmer 8- excellent goal. Put in quality shift

Subs
Fletcher 7
Davies 7
Cannon not on long enough really.
Tunnicliffe-6

We could do with Ryan doing another McElhenney song but this time explaining how to spell James McClean. Get the name correct and show the man some damn respect.

Default Re: Crawley Ratings

Solid from everybody .

Jones & Evans in front of the back 3 is tarting to make a huge difference , as has Arthur behind them .

We'll still get calls to bring Luke Young back in but JJ & Evans should be our MF pair for the foreseeable future now they compliant each other perfectly .

Luke for me back in on the bench along with JD as the midfield cover .

Ratings wise

JJ 8
Evans 8
Palmer 8
Hayden 8
Arthur 8

The rest 7s (Mull's struggled with 3 games in a week - to be expected as he's still catching up fitness wise - but this week will help him long term)

Cannon 2

Parkinson 10

Other thoughts ...

Mendy is grerat, but I'm worried he's heading down the same road as Bryce -seems to be 2 or 3 games then injured in a repeating pattern

Fletcher has magic in his boots ... just not sure how many minutes he has in the tank for any given game - calls for him to start , I'm not sure about , he doesn't get in ahead of Palmer and won't get in ahead of the fit Mullin , but he's an outstanding option to come off the bench ... sometimes we have to accept that some players are just better suited to making an impact off the bench rather than starting ( I'm not sure if this is the case with Steven or not , but suspect stamina/fitness may be a factor here)

Default Re: Crawley Ratings

Good to see people calling out James Jones. There was one moment in the first half where he whisked the ball off the Crawley player in a dangerous position around 30 yards out that summed up a tremendous all round performance from him - back to his best looking insanely fit and not giving the ball away. And you need me to play RWB? No problem.

Arthur is top drawer now that his nerves have settled. No way Crawley were going to beat him from 25 yards out. He's got it all - shot stopper, safe hands for the high balls and agile enough to get down low for those awkward crosses in between keeper and defender. A bit too quiet but that will come with experience.

Mendy's injury was horrible to watch. Just a bizarre passage of play with Mullin (?) volleying a pass to the right that was almost head height. Most players would have let it go straight out but there were audible gasps from the crowd when Mendy somehow controlled it but you could see just how much he had to stretch.

Lee and Mullin deserve some of the low marks given by others. Jordan Davies looked like a player who scored 20 goals in a season not long ago. We looked like scoring every time he got the ball.

Special mention as well to Fletcher who is looking like a very shrewd signing. Love the way that he puts his body between himself and the ball. There is absolutely no way defenders can tackle him with giving away a foul and he won a couple late on that gave us a breather when we needed it. Just a very intelligent footballer who is clearly enjoying playing for us.
