Good win, hoping to see Jordan Davies start first eleven soon.

I see Port Vale bottled it against Newcastle U21 at the end. Going on penalties.

Why do draws go to penalties in the group stage?

Jordan Davies a cut above the rest on the pitch, perhaps should be in contention for Saturday. I admire Bickerstaff’s effort but I can’t help but feel he lacks two yards extra pace to being a good striker in the first team. All in all good night.
Yes Bickerstaff is almost there and if he is given more time and experience he will prosper.

I sometimes wonder if people commenting on here actually watch the games or do they just base their comments on pre formed opinions .....

... some weird comments about Bickerstaff lacking the space to make the first team squad ... he came from miles behind the defender and beat him to win the penalty tonight . His work rate and pace created several chances - one in pertricualr stood out where he chased down 3 different players and eventually won the ball on the edge of the box - for me , he should clearly be ahead of Dalby in the pecking order - he'd be the other striker on the bench every week now for me along side Fletcher - Dalby has to go out on loan in January.

Jordan Davies was excellent - he's cementing his place in match day league squad and as amazing as Eliot Lee is , if he has any more sub par performances , I'd be resting him and starting Jordan .

Good to see Tunicliffe come through the game .

The Keeper looked excellent - can't remember seeing more assured handling from any other keeper than we saw from him tonight - on that showing , one for the future for sure

Brice was good - if he can keep doing that and keep fit , I really think he could work his way back into the 22 man league squad

You get an extra point if you win in the shoot-out, I believe.

Yes, and that just happened with Port Vale. Both Wrexham and Port Vale have now secured round of 32 spots.

Yeah Wrexham wins the group with a win or draw/loss on penalties, finishes second with a regulation loss...losing the shootout would give Wrexham the group on goal difference if I understand it correctly (three points for a regular win, two points for a shootout win, one for a shootout loss)...very NHL esque although strangely hockey doesn't give the extra point for a regulation win.
