Default Mansfield Town (A) (FA Cup 1st Rd) - Tís & Pís

Isn’t it great not having to qualify for this most important cup competition. However, we face one of the toughest opponents if we are to progress one step closer to the ‘big boys’. We had a pretty good run last season, but Sheffield Utd can’t really be classed as a ‘big boy’, as they are finding out!

We have already had a good draw in the EFL, so can we go one better? They are a good footballing team with great form, albeit they recently came unstuck against Port Vale. We have built a larger waiting-room for our walking-wounded, so PP will have to bring in some of the ‘second-string’ to make up the numbers.

The late kick-off conflicts with Strictly, but can we waltz our way around a very slick herd of Stags? It takes two to Tango, but we’ll need eleven or more players to give their best if we are to perform. Will it be a Notts County or Sutton performance? Thankfully, Mansfield will play football rather than parking the bus. But can we keep it on the deck or start hoofing the ball to nowhere?

Whether you are at Field Mill, watching it on S4C or admiring the sequins on the BBC, we’ll all be biased and hoping to progress. This should be a battle royal and too close to call.

Mansfield 2 WXM 2

Mullin and Lee

Find me a Wrexham fan who doesn't love a good cup run. Last year was a lot of fun but given our current injury woes I'm Kool & the Gang falling at the first hurdle.

A hellishly difficult 1st round tie but it all depends on what teams the managers elect to put out. The keeper selection will speak volumes on how seriously Parky is taking the FA Cup this season. Would like to see Jordan Davies get the full 90 minutes and Cleworth in from the off.

Got a case of Wrexham Lager in for this one and the S4C coverage is always good (Bryn Law on English commentary) so looking forwards to watching it so I don't have to watch Strictly with the fam.

Why would Parky rest players? He didn't last season for the FA Cup and won't this. Lee is back in form now there is no way he is getting 'rested'.

The only guaranteed players will be Mullin and McClean else they will have a 3 week rest because of the yellow card suspension.

We know by now that Parky takes cup competitions very seriously. Combination of injuries and suspensions to be served against Gillingham mean it'll be a strong side. We've also got no Tuesday game so plenty of time to recover. Only changes I could see is maybe Davies in for Lee to give him a bit of a rest and Forde to get some minutes in his legs with an eye on Gillingham.

While it's a tough tie they did lose their first game of the season this week and I think we can go there and give them a really good game.

Growing more confident we might nick it 2-1 with Mullin and Davies scoring.
