I think the Accrington game showed clearly that this is not the case, and there is no room for complacency if we want to get another promotion

Previously the answer to this question was always “midfield” but we have now largely resolved this area. However, this has served to highlight other areas that still need to be strengthened for me.

These are, in my opinion:

Central defence - some of our defenders are too injury prone, Tozer isn’t getting any younger and Boyle is a clogger.

Strikers - Mullin was always our star player. The podcast above showed that this is no longer the case, with all of them agreeing that Lee is now our standout player and no one else is close. Truth is he’s not the same player since his injury and likely won’t ever be. Palmer is decent but isn’t prolific and Dalby is not quite at the level (maybe still room for improvement though). Fletcher is an impact sub, if he can get fit again (not a given at his age)

Anyone want to differ from the above?
Bit harsh on Mullin there.
Fine margins with strikers.
Last season he was playing well well below his level and he produced week in week out.
His injury sustained was nasty, but rest assured Mullin is tough and he will soon be back.

I agree with you there. People writing off Mullin are well off the mark imo. He will take time to regan his pre-injury form but I don't think he's playing badly, and the whole team gets a lift when he's playing. He is still a key player. We just have a couple of them now.

He was snatching at chances on Saturday but he's milimetres away from scoring two goals it's not like he shanked shots wide or not even getting into the right positions. It feels to me like he's so desperate to score he's lost a bit of his normal composure but that will come back.

Ideally in the starting 11 we'd upgrade:

4 (Tozer)
5 (Hayden)
9 (Palmer/Dalby)

Personally I don't think SPM is a million miles away, think his general play and fitness has looked decent. OK he didn't have the best of days on saturday but who did? Still our best player by a long way IMO.

Indeed. He's an inch away from getting himself a brace and us a point at least

Yep - exactly . If you look at it this season, he's played 12 games and scored 6 goals ... 1/2 of those games he was nowhere near fit . if he continues at that rate and has around the 25 goal mark come the end of the season , we'd all be very, VERY happy with that

Source?

I saw a Tweet by his bro over the weekend that gives an idea of what the family is going through. Not easy.
