The biggest difference in this league from the NL is that defenders for the top sides can actually play football. It’s no coincidence our two best wins/performances of the season came with Evans and TOC, typically two midfielders, in the back three. Allows us more control with quality in transition, we saw the best out of Jones and especially Cannon in these games with it aswell.

...yes .. and Tozer was excellent in that game too ( knowing that he had decent footballers around him so the pressure wasn't all on him to find the killer pass )

Contrast that with Accrington where it felt like 90% of Hayden's forward passes were incomplete

We have to remember he is up against quicker and better opposition this season and even players who had played at this level and above, before in their careers, have taken a while to make the step up in speed.

Aaron did seem to struggle , his passing wasn't great and his first touch ( something that has always been good ) let him down often . He's had so much time out with injury , it's not a surprise he's not 100% in terms of sharpness, but hopefully that will come back quickly now he's playing again

We are not far off the finished article.

Some of the theories and post mortems after Accrington are ridiculous.

We lost, but no harm done.

We have never ever had it so good. We are 4th, in a prime position to hit top three.

Stockport are ahead of us but if you look at the table we are only 8 points behind them and they are on a record beating winning run.In addition we have had a tough start already we have played 5 of the top 7 away.
Look at other teams around Mansfield drawn away in the league and won in the cup.
Notts won away Crewe drawn at home but played with 10 men most of the match and won away in cup Barrow drawn away. Teams around us will be more worried about us I think.
Come January of course PP will bring in 3 or 4 to strengthen the team so still very optimistic about a top 3 position at end of season
I think you are wide of the mark to expect 3/4 signings in January.
