Default Saturdays ref

Not looking promising, this from Morecambes website

We’ve been allocated Ben Atkinson for the Wrexham match on Saturday and Ross Joyce for Newport on Tuesday.

It’s BA’s first season in the EFL after only 7 matches in the NL! Last season he issued 36 yellows and 1 red in the 7 matches (5.14 and 0.14). This season he’s issued 69 yellows and 5 reds in 14 matches (4.93 and 0.36).

RJ was in charge and sent Rawson off when we lost 2-0 at Harrogate in August. Last season he issued 118 yellows and 6 reds in 30 matches (3.93 and 0.20) and this season 67 yellows and 6 reds in 15 matches (4.47 and 0.40).

You really have to wonder why the EFL persist with someone like this .

I'd be interested to know what he's given these cards for - my guess is , like most refs, it's often for trivial things , while he'll let persistent foul play go un punished

Probably best Ollie wears a vest or some skins too as this kind of ref generally seems to be quite happy to let defenders try and take his top off over his he'd every time the ball is played into him in the air ..

.... Have to stay the standard of officiating from most refs this season is worse than last season

Just looking at Ben Atkinsons stats..

Most yellow cards issued in one game.. 7

Generally issues 3 yellows per game, and has issued 2 reds in one game.

This guy did our away game at Halifax on Good Friday when we lost 3.1

.
We must play on the edge, be aggressive but disciplined.

Absolutely, we all had forlorn hopes of improving standards but based on the wiggy smiling assassin we had at Accrington, we will all be disappointed.

Ben cut his teeth in our Sunday League, not too many years ago and has been fast tracked through NL to EFL. Be very interesting to see how he gets on. He was obviously a cut above the rest but he still got his fair share of stick, starting out.
