Default Home Form versus Away Form

We have now played 20 games, 10 at home and 10 away and it is worth making some form comparisons between Home v Away and Attack v Defence.

Our present League position is heavily dependant upon our Home form, ranked 3rd at Home behind Stockport and Notts County but only 7th on away form.

62% of our points have come at home (7-2-1=23) with 38% away (3-5-2=14)
79% of our goals are scored at Home (33) against 21% away (9)
61% of goals conceded are at home (19) and 39% away (12).

We are the 2nd highest scorers in the League with 42, (Swindon 43) but have the 12th worst defence.

To be honest, I'd say that's pretty reasonable if you want to achieve promotion .

Also worth noting that the 12th worst defence is heavily biased by our port start to the season - since Arthur came in we are MUCH better defensively than that

I guess you can paint what ever picture you want to with stats ......

The stat that matters most is we're second in the table .... worth noting that we've played all the top sides away from home apart from Crewe .... so that weights the stats in our favour too .... of our 10 away games we've played 7 of the top 10 .....

we're in a very good place - with the potential for back to back promotion ...

if you'd have offered us this form at the start of the season , we'd have snapped your hand off !

Our away form is a worry in that I mean like the second half last night. The game was won and we let the opposition back in, you always feel that sort of form is in us on our travels.

At home, yes earlier in the season we let a lot of goals in but also had the fight to get back into the games. Are we to open away with our wing-backs too far up which exposes our not too quick centre-backs? Having said that, we are second in the league so if it gets us promoted who cares for the for and against column?

Great stats.

I think the overall record is pretty much par for the course but damn, that goals for total is pretty stark.

I think there will be some regression to the mean. I don't expect many more 6-0 or 5-5 at home scorelines and I think we will begin to score more on the road.

I think when we are away to lower league sides our concentration drops after we get ahead.

Only Gillingham, FGR and Tranmere have scored less away from home, all 7 goals. FGR have played 2 less games away from home.

But look at who we've played away from home ! ... we've pretty much just played the top 10 sides away from home , most of the rest of the sides near us in the league have played far more of the bottom half sides than we have - need to look at the bigger picture
