Actually, the apostrophe is correct. If it was one player, it would be the player's wages but because it is all of them it is the players' wages. Possessive, see.

I'm signed up to this facebook page, I don't think it's official, it's just a fan. Most of the stuff he posts is off the official site.

It's the same one who re-printed the 'Trust are trying to destroy the club' thing a while back.
