Player Ratings Histon
Another very toothless performance with no shots on target against a poor team who sadly look a bottom half team like ourselves. No sign of Tsiakilis and Fairhurst with the manager sticking to the same woeful team that played Saturday except the three forced changes.
Maxwell(7) The only real bright spot for me at the moment as he is playing with confidence, sure now to get the nod over Russel every time as he is really growing up.
Westwood(5) Played as a right back which he is not, hence no creativity from the right side but not his fault.Out of position!
Sinclair(8) MOTM with a commanding performance as well as directing the troops, must be given the captaincy asap.
Mani(6) Steady enouugh but got caught out too many times with his marking at set pieces.
Mike Williams(6) Better but still prefer him in the centre of defence.
Obeng(4) Another poor performance but no creativity coming from behind him as the manager played a centre half at right back.
Fleming(7) Played well in midfield with at least a few forward passes and played with a bit more authority.
Smith(4) No creativity whatsoever poorest game for a while, good at going backwards.
Baines(4) Lost out wide never a factor.
Taylor(5) Played too deep and positionally all over the place, never got behind their defence.
Williams(6) Again ran and ran but lacks that yard of pace which made him last year a great prospect.
Saunders(5) Doesnt want to seem to change anything tactically up front, sulked on the bench for all of first half
Cheesy(5) Huffed and puffed late on.
Around 100 die hard away fans watching a truely awful game between two very average teams, only bright spot was hearing Carl Tunnah moaning as his darts and fine whisky were confiscated by the police!!

Cheers for the ratings, they are appreciated. Radio Wales seemed a bit more positive about it all, but they don't have to pay to watch it!
I was surprised Wolfenden didn't play from the start instead of Marc Williams. Hopefully for the Kidderminster game we will see either one of Fairhurst and Tsiaklis in midfield and Wolfenden up front instead of Marc.
We can always bring Marc on later on to harry and hassle but we need goals at the moment, Kidderminster are showing they are a good side so it could be a decent open game.

Re: Player Ratings Histon
I don't have so much of a problem him playing this type of team away from home against the likes of Histon but at home I agree it is far too negative. The reason he doesn't play them has to be that he doesn't trust them defending set pieces. We were being punished by teams at the start of the season.

Well put. Go for a point away and if we nick a goal then great. At home however one of the middle two needs to be sacrificed for a more attacking option.
The more that I see of the side the more I think its the lack of proper width and the way Taylor is used up front that is the problem. Gareth did really well linking up and retaining the ball today. However, when was the last time we stuck a couple of decent crosses in for him to attack? Three or four decent balls in and he'll get a couple. Maybe the central two can afford to sit back and sure up the defence if the wide areas are addressed.
Just a thought...

Re: Player Ratings Histon
strange - against the Turtle ratings I'd only add one each to Obeng, Baynes and Taylor - slip one off Sinclair .... but conclude that it was a mediocre to ok performance in a stand alone context, so slip Saunders up to 6 too - sort of average really, with more below par than I'd like (4 at 5), and lacking inspiration...
