Richard Partington, The Giant-Killers: Wrexham AFC 1974-99 - a fan's view (Bridge Books, 2001)

I'm not one for writing in normally but I've just read the new book The Giant Killers and I couldn't believe no-one reviewed it in your last edition. Have other fans seen it? I bought it from Waterstones a couple of weeks back and I've read it from cover to cover twice. I think it's BRILLIANT. The book is exciting, poignant, funny with some fantastic memories. In these pretty depressing days, it's certainly been the equivalent of a few good pints of Wrexham Lager and I totally recommend it to all Wrexham fans. We've had some tremendous wins, brilliant players and some very good managers. The book's also a good reminder that we shouldn't just judge Brian Flynn on his final games; we've had some spectacular wins with him in the cup. Wrexham are British football's greatest modern giant-killers, the book says and proves. We should all feel proud of that. How many clubs can claim to be British football' s greatest anything? And we the fans are a real part of that success story. The book is ours - our very own Fever Pitch. Total respect to the author Richard Partington. I like what you say and the way that you say it. I would like to suggest a new campaign: RP for RP (Richard Partington for Red Passion as a new columnist). Hopefully the magazine, like our beloved Wrexham FC, can now expand your squad!
