The A-Z of Life - U is for Ugolini

At first sight, 'U' is limited to one football-related word: United. There are plenty of Uniteds but only one seems to count! 

Taking a closer look: games can be Untidy, fans Unruly and players Useless. The Unibond League is there to receive those teams who are perpetually relegated. From such regions come the Underdogs who sometimes grace the FA Cup beyond the first round.

The World Cup flags up football's universal appeal and features such countries as Uruguay. In the Racecourse Robins, Rolando Ugolini stands alone to represent the letter 'U'. The acrobatic Italian keeper is still remembered by some 40 years on.
