Travel Guide

Directions from Wrexham: Head south on the A483, A5 and M54 and join the M6 at junction 10a. Leave the M6 at junction 8 and head south on the M5 until junction 18. After leaving the M5 travel along Portway on the A4 following signs for Bristol Airport and Taunton (A38). Then go over the swing bridge on Brunel Way branching left into Winterstoke Road. Then go left again at Cruickshanks Mercedes Garage for Ashton Gate. The away end can be found by following Winterstoke Road and turning left at the first exit of the roundabout outside the KFC.
Car Parking: There is plenty of street peaking in the vicinity of the ground and at the roundabout by the KFC go straight on and take your first left.
By Train: The nearest train station is Bristol Temple Meads. Depart Wrexham on the 9:43 arriving in Shrewsbury at 10:20. From there take the 10:42 Alphaline Service arriving in Bristol Temple Meads at 12:56. The train station is over four miles away from the ground and your best bet is to jump in a taxi but there is a bus service on the way back departing from behind the Atyeo Stand at a reasonable 50p. There are no direct buses to the ground but you can catch a number 8 or 9 to the City Centre and from there catch a number 24 to Ashton Gate. The only train back leaves Bristol Temple Meads at 18:10 arriving in Wolverhampton at 20:17. From there take the 20:54 to Shrewsbury and after a 9 minute wait catch the 21:36 to Wrexham arriving at 22:11. Click here for the Rail Track Online Timetable.

Match Build Up

Team News

Bristol City

Wrexham

Injuries: Mickey Bell, Brian Tinnion and Kevin Amankwaah have all recovered from injury and are named in the squad. Injuries: Craig Faulconbridge and Keith Hill are still out. Hector Sam and Paul Barrett are rated doubtful. Darren Ferguson is still struggling with the thigh strain that kept him out of last week's game at Brentford.
Suspensions: Scott Murray. Suspensions: None.
Squad (18): Stowell, Amankwaah, Carey, Coles, Hill, Woodman, Clist, Doherty, A.Brown, Peacock, Thorpe, Bell, Tinnion, M. Brown, Hulbert, Phillips, Burnell, Fortune. Squad (17): Rogers, Whitley, Sharp, Roberts, Carey, Holmes, Phillips, Thomas, Chalk, Morrell, Trundle, Walsh, Lawrence, Edwards, Blackwood, Gibson, Sam.
Other News: Kevin Amankwaah is likely to replace the suspended Scott Murray in midfield but Danny Wilson will leave it late before naming his starting line-up and may also switch to a 4-4-2 or 4-4-3 formation after injured players have declared themselves fit. Other News: It is fair to say that Denis Smith has not identified his first eleven since being in charge since October. Players likely to start are Kristian Rodgers in goal, Jim Whitley at right back with Brian Carey and Steve Roberts in the centre of defence. There may be a change at left back with Kevin Sharp starting ahead of Shaun Holmes. Midfield and attack again depends on what formation is played but with Robin Gibson hoping to get a recall on the right wing then expect Denis Smith to play 4-4-2. Waynne Phillips played well last week and he is also likely to start along with Darren Ferguson. That leaves Michael Blackwood, Steve Thomas and Martyn Chalk fighting for the final place in midfield. Hector Sam is pressing for a recall up front after scoring for the reserves and you would expect him to replace Andy Morrell but with Lee Trundle sent off last week he may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Quotes

Bristol City

Wrexham

Danny Wilson: "When we beat them at their ground the other day they were at their most dangerous late on when they had nothing to lose. They will probably feel the same way coming to our place and I expect them to attack us. If we can keep things tight and score the first goal I think we can cause them problems, but our attitude has to be spot-on." Denis Smith: "We played Bristol City a few weeks back and it was a very tight game. We cancelled out each other really. But they got the goal and then we gave them another."
