Press Conference Quotes
Denis Smith: "You get highs and lows in life, and in football, but I don’t think I can feel any lower than I do right now. If we seriously think that we can get out this league, then without being disrespectful to Macclesfield, you have to beat a team who have not had the best of results away from home. But it’s not their performance that I’m interested in, it’s ours and that was not a performance! They played like that in training yesterday, but I was hoping it was a one off – it wasn’t! We lost Steve Roberts in training, but that’s a poor excuse. Their two second half goals I would say were school boyish, but to be perfectly honest that’s being insulting to schoolboys. The first right after half time, their lad has stopped, picked it up, turned and shot, yet still no one has reacted. We have three centre backs looking at him and saying to each other ‘you deal with him’ and that’s appalling." [Source: Wrexham AFC]
David Moss: "We had some good one on one chances and we could have scored at some crucial times which would have killed them off a lot earlier. It was great for us that Eaton gave us that extra cushion as we were on the back foot. I’ve asked a lot from my lads in the last few days. Twice we’ve faced teams who have had extra rest due to games being postponed but we’ve managed to take four points from two tough away games. We’ve done a lot of travelling as well which has made it tougher. I was pleased with Michael Carr in the first half but I thought it was time for a change at half time. I said to him that he’d done well in the dressing room but he’s only a young lad and we’ve been putting him under real pressure. Again I demanded that they showed some strong character and we’ll need that for the rest if the season. If we can continue like that then we’ll have no problems." [Source: Macclesfield Town FC]
