Press Conference Quotes |
Denis Smith: “I was pleased with the performance for 80 minutes; the last 10 were disappointing to say the least. We kept the ball well, but couldn’t break them down. We didn’t have the range to hit the ball quickly, as couple of the lads who were out at the back can switch the ball a lot quicker than the lads we had in. They got the numbers behind the ball and we weren’t able to hit them as quickly as I would have liked. So they were quite happy for us to keep the ball in front of them. But at 1-0 we were always in it. Once the second one went in, which was only a clunck down the middle and a head on, that was disappointing to loose a goal like that. We went then and in the end we didn’t deserve to be beaten 3-0. The result doesn’t reflect the way that we played and the players have just had a bit of a roasting for those last 10 minutes, but I will praise them for the first 80! We needed a break and it was always going to be difficult to get it because they defended very well, but give them credit for getting everyone behind the ball, especially after going one-up and the just soaked up the pressure. I’m pleased with most of them and at 1-0 we can say ‘okay we have given them a game’. I’m not saying that Everton didn’t deserve to win, just that they didn’t deserve to win 3-0!” [Source: Wrexham FC - click here for more] |
David Moyes: “It was a hard win. Wrexham played very well and we’ve got to give them a lot of credit. We passed the ball well and we tried to do the right things, but a lot of credit must go to the home side tonight. It was a good finish by Kevin Campbell. He’s very cute at that. He waited for the goalkeeper to go down and he then chipped it over him." [Source: Everton.tv - for more click here] |
David Moyes: "I was delighted to see him (Rooney) score his first goals for the club at senior level. He's been a bit anxious about not getting on the score sheet so this will help him. But Wrexham played well and deserved credit.". |
