Travel Guide

Directions from Wrexham: Follow the A483, A55 onto the M53 leaving the M53 at junction 11 to join the M56. At junction 9 of the M56 turn left onto the M6 Northbound leaving at junction 21a onto the M62 towards Manchester. The M62 becomes the M60 and at junction 17 of the M60 turn left onto the A56 towards Whitfield. Go straight over a double set of traffic lights passing a McDonalds on your LHS and follows signs to Bury (A56) and after passing through Whitfield the road forks with the Derby Hotel on your left. At the lights, just after the Bull's Head pub, follow the road bearing right still signposted Bury (A56). After a mile go straight on at the lights and half a mile later you will see the Swan & Cemetery Pub on your left and after 400 yards there will be playing fields on your left. Your next right will be Gigg Lane (Sign Posted: Football Ground) but this road is closed on match days.
Car Parking: Gigg Lane is closed on match days but there is a good deal of space on the side streets. Holy Cross College on Wellington Road provides matchday parking for £3.00 whilst police recommend that mini busses use the coach park on Gigg Lane.
By Train: Bury is not served by a train station but can be accessed by catching a tram from Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria. The Metorlink is 0.7 miles away from the ground and should take you no more than 15 minutes to walk. Turn left out of the station along the covered passage way and past various bus stops (see below for bus numbers) until you reach the t-junction with Haymarket Street which is by the Chicago Rock Cafe. Turn left here and straight over the cross roads down Knowsley Street and follow this until you reach the Jolly Waggoners and a white monument. Take a left here along Manchester Road towards the 'Staff of Life' and then turn left after a further half a mile into Gigg Lane. Taxis will cost you £1.50. Click here for the Network Rail Online Timetable or call national enquiries on 08457 484950 and here for the Manchester Metro Link Information or contact 0161 205 2000. For your return journey there is a later train leaving Piccadilly at 18:33 and you will have to be at the Bury Metro Link station by 17:48 to allow sufficient time to catch the train to Shrewsbury and then to Wrexham General.

Beer: For beer just follow this link - as it takes you to details of the Bury FC Beer festival which is open before and after the match! It takes place at the Supporters Club and non-members can gain entry for only £1.00. You also have plenty of options on Manchester Road:
The Star of Life (111-113 Manchester Road): Serves Tetleys and JW Lees Bitter and is the closest pub to the ground and is very hospitable with a bar, lounge, pool table, 2 TVs and a dart board.
The Pack Horse Hotel (201 Manchester Road): Whitbread and newly refurbished with a big-screen TV, pool table, beer garden, separate rooms for darts and pub games. The Landlord gets into the spirit of the day with football quizzes and food is also provided.
The Swan & Cemetery: Family meals and very friendly to away supporters with a large car park and is situated a few hundred yards past the ground.
The Blue Bell: Joseph Holts (Large Manchester Independent brewery) and also a large pub that caters for all tastes with a quiet lounge with a separate room for bar games and jukebox.
Grub: Not many eateries in the vicinity of the ground. The only takeaway near by is Man Sons Chinese Takeaway on Manchester Old Road. Otherwise look at one of the pubs above as the food in the ground is typical football grub - uninspiring and expensive!

Ground Information

General: Bury are a good local club and offer spaces for away fans in the Family Stand, which is blocks G, H & J of the Main Stand. A family ticket for one adult and one child costs £14.00 and two adults and two children for £28.00. In affect this means that children are admitted for free when compared to the away end. The only problem with the away end is that four post can obstruct your view and strangely the rows are labelled back to front i.e. row A is at the top of the stand!

Suspensions: None. Suspensions: None.
Team News: Bury manager Andy Preece is set to make changes to his starting line up after already securing a play off spot. He is likely to give fringe players a starting spot to give them match practice ahead of the play off fixtures. Tom Kennedy, Simon Whaley, and Graham Gunby are likely starters and  Chris Porter, Danny Swailes, Lee Unsworth and Preece himself may also get into the first eleven. Paul O'Shaughnessy should reclaim his midfield spot but Preece may not risk Dave Nugent after he has returned to the squad after almost a two week lay off and Ian Lawason will be the likely replacement. Squad (21): Rogers, Dibble, Whitfield, Carey, Roberts, Lawrence, Morgan, Bennett, C Edwards, P Edwards, Holmes, Ferguson, Barrett, Thomas, Morrell, Trundle, Jones, Whitley, Pejic, Sam, Green.
Other News: Kristian Rogers will continue in goal for Dibble if the experienced keeper does not make it and Paul Barrett will again be the replacement for Scott Green. Elsewhere Brian Carey, Steve Roberts and Dennis Lawrence are the defenders with Carlos Edwards and Paul Edwards at wing backs. The midfield three will be Darren Ferguson, Jim Whitley and Scott Green or Paul Barrett. Andy Morrell and Lee Trundle continue up front.
