Press Conference Quotes |
Denis Smith: "I will not be losing any sleep over this defeat, as Bournemouth are a very good side. This was our third hard game in a week and it seemed to take its toll. I’m obviously hurt by this result, but we will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. Losing Andy was a blow, because we had no way of holding the ball up front. It’s only a dead leg, so he should be all right for next week. Sometimes you just have to accept that we were beaten by the better side on the day. Both their goals were from good crosses, even if the first one crept in unaided, but Feeney headed home well for the second. Bournemouth are a quality side and were good value for their win, so we can’t let it affect our confidence too much and become distracted from the job at hand. We will bounce back from this and anyone who thinks the season is in anyway over with about 20 games left, hasn’t been around football for very long!" [Source: Wrexham AFC] |
Sean O'Driscoll: "The extra man in midfield gives us problems. It gave us problems against Kidderminster and Wrexham did the same again to play that extra man in midfield. We tinkered with the formation a couple of times and the lads were happy with just matching up so that everybody had their individual jobs to do. It was vital that everybody did those jobs and everyone played their part in doing that today. Warren Feeney came in because of his pace and James Hayter has done a man for man job on Darren Ferguson. I was also pleased for Wade who came on early doors. He put his defensive head on and was excellent in doing something different to what he is used to.” [Source: AFC Bournemouth] |
Warren Feeney: "I know I’m a striker, but it was definitely my goal and I got the slightest of touches to take it past the keeper. To be honest I thought the ball was too high for me on the second, but I got over the ball and was glad to see it go in. I’m a bit annoyed that I didn’t put the third away as that would have been my first hat-trick in senior football, but I can’t ask for more than I had today with two goals and a first start for some time and more importantly, we came away with the three points.” [Source: AFC Bournemouth] |
Denis Smith: "We are obviously disappointed at the defeat, but I can't be too downbeat because Bournemouth are a superb side. I've watched them a couple of times this season and been impressed so I won't say too much. That was our third game in a week and that took its toll on my players. There are a lot of tired, tired legs out there and we were physically held back so we won't dwell on the defeat for too long." [Source: Nationwide Football] |
Sean O'Driscoll: "That was a great win for us against one of our main promotion rivals. Wrexham are a good side and we knew they would be difficult to break down so I was delighted with the win. I was pleased for Warren because he has had rotten luck with injury this year but hopefully he has turned the corner now." [Source: Nationwide Football] |
