Press Conference Quotes |
Denis Smith: "I’m going to need a heart machine before the end of the season at this rate! I did say before hand that there is going to be end to end, while I did a talk with the sponsors before the game and told them that I honestly couldn’t guess what the score was going to be. In the end it could have been six apiece, in fact, it could have been anything. They certainly had chances, but having said that, their keeper has made some unbelievable saves. It’s pleasing because we needed that win at home and we need to be getting more people through the turnstiles. The gate was disappointing, but if anybody has been today, then won’t be going away and saying they didn’t have their monies worth. We were not going to totally dominate this game in the same manner we have others. This was a good team we were up against and we weren’t going to get that sort of freedom. For the first 20 minutes we did well, but then they changed their system and caused us all sorts of problems. Dan and Pej were struggling to cope with the runners from midfield and then our passing started to go astray. So all at once we were rocking and at half time was thinking about bringing on the extra striker, but I thought I would have another look at it. Then when we went behind, it all of a sudden made my mind up for me! It did put them on the back foot when Hector came on, but it also opens you up at the back. The game ebbed and flowed throughout, and at no stage could you have told me who was going to win. That’s great theatre and great entertainment. We all know what Paul Edwards is capable of. He might defend as well as Shaun Holmes, but he’s great at going forward and if there hadn’t been a net on that goal, the ball would still be on its way to Chester!" [Source: Wrexham AFC] |
Sean O'Driscoll: "I think at half time both managers would have given the same team talk and both teams has periods throughout the game. Again at the end of the game we’d have probably said the same things, just that they got the final goal when it could easily have been us or remained a 2-2 draw. Both teams had periods where they were in total control of the game and I’ve said before that I think the four relegated teams from division two last year will be up there at the end of the season. You could see today that Wrexham were a threat going forward and they’ll say themselves that they have to tighten up at the back. It worked and we’re disappointed as we feel that to score two goals away from home we have to take something from the game and we didn’t." [Source: AFC Bournemouth] |
