Press Conference Quotes |
Denis Smith: "I’m extremely disappointed, as we have gone out of the FA Cup without even a whimper. I don’t think their keeper has even had a shot to save. We have had all that possession but created nothing and while it ended 2-0, we can have no complaints and it could have been even more. They played with passion and it was good honest football. On the other hand we think all at once we can football, doing stopovers, drag backs and we don’t do the hard work and the dirty work that’s required. I thought we had got away from all that last season. Today we saw it again and I’m not particularly happy about that. The whole performance irks me and that’s not taking anything away from them, but we are talking about us and we were very, very poor. You get few opportunities to play in the FA Cup during your career so you should take them. If you go out, at least go down fighting with some glory and some want. We didn’t have that, but don’t ask me why, because we have had this season. We are fitter than most teams, but you wouldn’t have thought that today, as no one seemed as if they wanted to run. I find that performance very difficult to stomach." [Source: Wrexham AFC] |
Mick Tait: "We had already played Wrexham this season, and had learned how to cope with them. When we missed first-half chances I though it was going to be another one of those frustrating days. But the players kept doing the right things, and we were clearly the better side. The players have worked so hard in training that I wondered if I had pushed them too much. But they ran and tackled to the final whistle." [Source: The Sunday Sun] |
