Directions from Wrexham: Depart Wrexham south on the A483 and A5 towards Shrewsbury. After passing Shrewsbury continue on the M54 leaving at junction 5. From here you want to turn left at the end of the sliproad and follow the road past the Blockbusters store. You will then reach a large roundabout and here turn right onto the A442 and stay on this road as it takes you into Kidderminster. At the junction with the A456 turn left onto the A456 following this ring road onto the A451. At the next roundabout turn left signposted A448 Bromsgrove and then take your first right into Hoo Road. The ground is half a mile down this road on your right. If you get lost follow brown signs for the Severn Valley Railway and the ground is located two hundred yards beyond this.
Car Parking: Car parking is available at both ends of the ground but there is a charge for this and the space behind the away end is small. Away supporters are advised to park in the car park opposite the college ('The Quarry') and this is free. Local police discourage you to park in the residential areas close by.
By Train: Nearest Train Station is Kidderminster and is 1/2 a mile from the stadium. Exit the stadium and walk down Comberton Hill towards the town centre. Near the bottom of the hill you will find Motorway Tyres and turn left just before here and walk down Hoo Road and the ground is half a mile away down this road. A train does leave Kidderminster at 16:56 travelling back via Birmingham New Street, Crewe, Shrewsbury and Wrexham but you may have to leave ten minutes early in order to catch it. Beer: Outside the ground is the Harriers Arms behind the Reynolds Stand and although it allows away fans it does get a bit cramped as kick off approaches. The Railway bell is a lot quieter and as you guessed it is outside the Railway. There is also the pub at the Severn Valley railway which sells a variety of local ale including Bathams Bitter. On Hoo Road you will find the Viaduct on your approach from the town centre and station and The Farmers. The supporters club at the ground has been booked for a wedding and is therefore unavailable.
Grub: Kidderminster offer a superb match day package at £27.50 per head and includes a three course meal, half time refreshments, programme, access to the club bar plus a seat in the stand. As you can image for such value bookings fill up quickly and you are advised to book early on 01562 823931. Inside the ground the best bet is the soup they serve as it tends to be more of an meal than a drink and it is what a fanzine was named after. The soup sets you back 80p and the home made cottage pies with gravy costs £2.50 and are excellent value and will take you all of half time to eat. Kidderminster have warned that some sections of the away end will not have catering due to the kiosks being removed for ground redevelopment. Outside the ground there is a good chippy called Captain Cod on Hoo Road- conveniently between The Railway and The Farmers.
Cash Machines: HSBC at the train station and a Abbey National on Comberton Hill on your way to the ground. |
