Press Conference Quotes |
Denis Smith: "It was an interesting game as they came and had a go at us. They made it the game it was, as other teams have come here and sat in behind. They made life difficult for us and they have been very brave, although in the end it has backfired on him. Because of the way they played, there were gaps and we have got people who can deliver the ball and then others who can get on the end of them. At 4-0 we took our foot off the accelerator and then they got back into it. You can’t then suddenly get getting again, so I had to change a few things round and we had to hang on in there for a while before we started playing again. We scored a couple more goals and probably should have had a few more. We have now got three games to win one and we have to just go and do it. It would be nice to do it here in front of our own fans. The lads are up for it and they seem to perform in front of decent crowd. 6,000 was a good crowd for us today. We have some big time performers, who enjoy playing in front of the big crowds, like the 15,000 at Hull, which I’m pleased with. It’s difficult to say who played badly today, although we didn’t play was well as we can. Trunds has played superbly and not got a goal, while Scott was playing as well as he possibly has for us, but then went and picked up a hamstring. I’m delighted for Andy Morrell, as he has had a superb season. I hope he goes onto get 40 goals so that no one can catch him, because he is a superb lad and a joy to work with. When we have got promotion we can start talking about what we have achieved, but until we have done that we haven’t achieved anything!" [Source: Wrexham AFC] |
Roddy Collins: "It was always going to be difficult for us here. We had one or two chances before they scored and if we could have knocked one in it might have made a difference. We were booed off by our own fans and laughed at by Wrexham supporters, but we are not out of it yet." [Source: Nationwide Football] |
