Travel Guide

Directions from Wrexham: From Wrexham follow the A485, A55 past Chester onto the M53. Leave the M53 at junction 11 joining the M56 westbound towards Warrington. Leave the M56 at junction 9 joining the M6 northbound until junction 21a and then join the M62 eastbound towards Manchester. Continue on the M62 and when it becomes the M60 at Manchester towards Leeds and West Yorkshire. After the M60 reverts back to the M62 continue on the M62 leaving at junction 29 onto the M1 northbound. At the end of the M1 continue on the A1(M) until junction 57 where you take the A66(M) and then the A67 towards Darlington town centre. At the Grange Road roundabout (this will be the first major roundabout you reach) take the fourth exit into Victoria Road and the left into Fetham. The cricket ground will be directly ahead of you and the football ground is behind this. If you get lost the landmark to look out for for is Safeways Supermarket.
Car Parking: There is plenty of off street parking available and their is a car park on Victoria Road. The other alternative is the town centre car parks which are a 10-15 minute walk.
By Train: Train is not advisable from Wrexham as the last train back will only get you as far as Manchester Piccadilly. The train station is a ten minute walk from the ground and can be found by exiting the station down Victoria Road and the turning left onto Victoria Embankment just before the river at the bottom of the hill. Before you reach the park turn right across the footbridge and carry up Polam Lane past the Quakers Sport Centre and the ground will be ahead of you. Beer: There are two pubs on Victoria Road 100 yards away from the ground called The Dalesman and The Speedwall. If you are heading into town then try The Falcion which also sells good grub. On Skinnergate in the town centre you will find a Yate's Wine Lodge, Flares, Eccentric Inventor and The Tanners. Humphrys is closer to the ground but you should avoid the Nags Head and Hogans.
Grub: Victoria has a variety of outlets including a Cafe, Tandori Restaurant/Takeaway, Chinese Takeaway and a Pizza/Kebab Takeaway. North Road has a very good sandwich bar. Since George Reynolds took over Darlington the food at the ground has improved dramatically and now offer outstanding value for money with pies and hot dogs costing a £1.00.

Match Build Up

Team News

Darlington Wrexham
Injuries: Craig Little (thigh), Danny Mellanby, Mark Kitty (knee) and Gary Pearson (neck) are all ruled out. Injuries: Paul Edwards and Dan Bennett played through Saturday's game with an ankle and groin injury respectively. Bennett should be OK but the real doubt is over Edwards as he was replaced just after half time on the weekend.
Suspensions: None. Suspensions: None.
Squad (16): Collett, Betts, Clarke, McGurk, Valentine, Clark, Ford, Maddison, Nicholls, Conlon, Fenton, Porter, Reed, Hodgson, Naylor, Wainwright. Squad (18): Dibble, Roberts, Pejic, Bennett, Edwards, Edwards, Ferguson, Whitley, Barrett, Morrell, Sam, Rogers, Lawrence, Holmes, Campbell, Trundle, Carey, Evans.
Other News: Manager Tommy Taylor was hoping to bring in another striking in addition to Graeme Fenton who joined on loan from Blackpool last month. Stuart Whitehead, Luke Beckett and Kevin Ball ahve all be reported to Darlington in recent weeks but with no deal completed, Darlington are likely to name an unchanged side with ex-Dragon Neil Wainwright on the bench. Other News: The only change that Dennis Smith is likely to make is if Paul Edwards does not recover from injury and Shaun Holmes is on standby to replace him as left wing back. Apart from that, Wrexham will remain unchanged with Andy Dibble in goal behind a back three of Shaun Holmes, Steve Roberts and Dan Bennett. The midfield three of Darren Ferguson, Jim Whitley and Paul Barrett remain unchanged with Carlos Edwards as the right wingback. The successful partnership of Hector Sam and Andy Morrell will be up front.
