Travel Guide

Directions from Wrexham: Head north from Wrexham on the A483, A55 onto the M53 at Chester. leave the M53 at junction 11 taking the M56 eastbound towards Warrington. Leave the M56 at junction 10 taking the M6 Northbound and then leave the M6 at junction 21a heading east on the M62 towards Manchester. At Manchester the M62 becomes the M60 and follow signs for west Yorkshire when the M60 reverts back to the M62. Leave the M62 at junction 29 and join the m1 northbound towards Leeds. Continue on the M1 and then the A1 until the junction with the A64 and from here follow signs east towards York. After approximately 10 miles leave the A64 and join the A1237 signposted 'York North, Harrogate' for five miles passing through three roundabouts. At the fourth roundabout turn right onto Shipton Road (signposted 'York Centre A19'). Go straight through the lights after just under 2 miles and pass through Clifton Village Green following signs for York City Centre. After just over half a mile turn left into Bootham Crescent.
Car Parking: On my last visit I used Marygate public car park about quarter of a mile from the ground - go past the ground and it will be on your right. It was a bit pricey but as it is an evening game you should get reduced rates or free parking. The other alternative is street parking but watch out for resident schemes. If you are going to park on the A19 make sure your car is on the correct side of the road and facing in the correct direction as this can save you thirty minutes at the final whistle.
By Train: Nearest Train Station is York and is a 15 minute walk from the ground but there are no return trains on the evening of the game. The only way you can bet back to Chester is if you leave the match with 30 minutes to go and that defeats the object! Turn left out of the station towards the Minster and cross Lendal bridge. Go past the Public Library on your left and then the Theatre Royal on your right and then the art Gallery on your left. Turn left at the lights into Bootham and the ground will be on your right after five minutes. Click here for the Rail Track Online Timetable or call national enquiries on 08457 484950.

Ground Information

General: At £12 for standing you would at least expect to get a roof! The toilets are like the old Kop ones i.e. trough variety with no roof! If it is raining the £1.00 transfer may be worth it but the Popular Stand has metalwork separating home and away supporters and with the numerous pillars the view is not very good.

Standing: Grosvenor Road Terrace - £12.00, Concessions £8.00
