PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

Denis Smith: “If you get off to the start we did it makes life difficult, but then we give away a stupid goal on half time. Then to get a man sent off against a team who are 2-0 up and can pass it, makes life even more difficult. To lose goals the way we did at the end is not acceptable, but it’s happened and we will have live with it. We'd conceded two in the first half, but were getting things sorted after the break when we had a man sent off. We had one of the best defensive records in the league, but when you lose a couple of players it makes you suspect. All of a sudden you realise how good certain players are! We will have to see how they react and we will find out between now and the end of the season if it is possible to pick ourselves up. Up to now the team has been strong, but this defeat will not do us any good at all. The six goals are significant in that it's a six-hour journey home and it won't be enjoyable. Referees make those decisions, so it doesn't matter if I like it or not. I’m the manager of a side that has just lost by six goals, so it’s not up to me to question anything." [Source: Wrexham AFC]

Sean O'Driscoll: “I’m delighted with the clean sheet and we felt at 2-0 that if we kept our concentration it would always be difficult for Wrexham to get back in the game. Their away record deserves respect and we thought they’d gamble with an extra forward. We showed a lot of commitment and desire to bounce back from Brighton and we just wanted to do a professional job. To score another four in the second half was amazing and James’ hat-trick is destined for the record books along with his four at Bury. We’ve played them so often that we know the way they play. They win games in midfield and we wanted to match them up there and we’re flexible enough to change from a three to a four. We were going to do it in the game that was postponed; it was right then and it was right now. It allows us to get a few more midfield players further forward and it allows Warren [Cummings] to play further up the pitch, which he enjoys doing. The Wrexham winger Carlos Edwards usually played on his side, but he didn’t in the first half, which left him free to bomb forward as much as he wants.” [Source: AFC Bournemouth]
