TRAVEL GUIDE

Directions from Wrexham: Head south from Wrexham on the A483, A5 past Shrewsbury onto the M54. If you want to risk the traffic jam on the M6 at Birmingham then continue on the M54 until it joins the M6 southbound at junction 10a and then continue on the M6 until it joins the M1 southbound. If you want to miss the traffic on the M6 toll road at a cost of £3 then leave the M54 at junction 1 turning left onto the A460 until you join the M6 toll road at junction T8 after passing the M6 junction 11 turn. At the end of the toll road rejoin the M6 towards London via the M42 and continue on the M6 until it merges with the M1 southbound at junction 19. Leave the M6 at junction 11 at at the roundabout take the first exit turning left on the A505 towards Luton. Stay on this road taking the second exit at the roundabout and after 1.5 miles Kenilworth Road will be on your right as you leave the one-way system. Luton's Official web site provide visual directions showing you directions from junction 11. Click here for the high res version and here for the low res. Car Parking: There are two options here: street parking or the multi-story ten minutes walk away from the ground. For street parking follow the one-way around, turning left, right and right again all in about 100 yards so that you do a complete U-turn and then take the second left into Ash Road. Continue down to the bottom, turn left at the end and the club is in front of you. Continue straight past the club and the road bends immediately over a dual carriageway bridge. Beyond this is plenty of street parking but a word of warning that police warn that car crime is high in this area so do not leave any valuables in your vehicle. To find the multi story follow signs for the Galaxy Centre Leisure Complex.
By Train: Luton station is a good 15 minute walk to Kenilworth Road. On leaving the station turn right into Station Road which leads into Mill Street. At the junction turn left into Telford Way and then right onto Dunstable Road (A505). Follow this road for a third of a mile and take the fifth left into Oak Road and head towards the ground. You can also catch any of the following buses from Park Square or Upper George Street: Nos. 31, 37, 38 and 61 to Dunstable Road.

Places to Drink: A couple of options nearby are the Nelson's Flagship and the Bedfordshire Yeoman. The Flagship is located on Dunstable Road by the Sainsburys and the Yeoman can be found on Dallow Road by turning left of Oak Road onto Maple Road and then passing over the bridge down Clifton Road and then heading right. The Well on High Town Road is a traditional Irish bar with a big screen that serves meals. Also on High Town Road is the Bricklayers Arms and this one for the traditionalist as it serves a variety of ale from a 100 year old listed building. On Guildford Street is The Birdge Tavern and this is best described as a sporting pub with big screen TV and pool tables etc. If parking at the Galaxy then you will find The White House Waetherspoons pub as part of the complex. Alcohol is not served inside the ground.
Places to Eat: If heading to the Yeoman then there is a good chippy near the bridge en route to the pub. Another good chippy is the Bluebird One on the corner of Clifton Road and Wimborne Road. Otherwise you will find a variety on outlets off Dunstable Road.

TICKET AND GROUND INFO

For some unknown reason the match is all ticket for Wrexham fans. You must therefore purchase tickets before travelling to the game as you will not be able to pay cash on the day.
General: The entrance to the Oak Road Stand must be the strangest in football as on my first visit I thought I was queuing to get into someone's house not a football ground! The ground has had little investment over the last decade and is starting to show it's age. The supporting pillars can obstruct your view and the leg room is not great either. On the plus side a small number of fans can make some noise due to the design of the stand and the refreshments are not bad either with a wide range to chose from.
Ticket Office: 01582 416976 or ticketoffice@lutontown.co.uk. Wrexham FC 01978 366388 open during nor mal office hours. With the bank account frozen it is unlikely that Wrexham will be taking bookings over the phone.
Seats: Oak Road Stand - Adults £17.50 Concessions £10.50. You are a concession if you are under 16, an OAP or a student.
Standing: None - all seated.
Disabled Facilities: There are 32 wheelchair spaces with 10 reserved for away supporters in the Main Stand. 17 of the spaces are elevated and their is room for helpers to sit behind. The club provides 6 headsets for supporters that are visually impaired abut these must be booked on the ticket office number in advance. Parking is in Hazelbury crescent car park 100 metres away and applications for parking spaces must be made to Cheryl Newbery at Luton Town on 01582 411622. There are two adapted toilets in the Main Stand.

MATCH PREVIEW
THE MATCH

Wrexham Team News: Danny Williams is the latest to join the queue for Mel Pejic's treatment room but on the plus side, Chris Armstrong returns after resting his troublesome Achilles injury in midweek. Williams joins Andy Dibble, Brian Carey, Craig Morgan, Jim Whitley, Carlos Edwards and Dean Bennett on the sidelines and Denis Smith has added Keiran Quinn and Levi Macken as he only has twelve fit professionals to chose from. Matt Baker continues in goal with a unchanged back three of Shaun Pejic, Steve Roberts and Dennis Lawrence. The one change in midfield will see the return of Alex Smith for the injured Danny Williams to play alongside Matt Crowell and Darren Ferguson. Simon Spender will feature on the right with Andy Holt on the left with Chris Armstrong expected to return to the side to rejoin Chris Llewellyn upfront.

Wrexham Squad (17): Baker, Evans, Roberts, Pejic, Lawrence, Holt, Spender, Crowell, Smith, Ferguson, Mackin, Quinn, Jones, Sam, Llewellyn, Armstrong, Ugarte.

Luton Team News: Luton's are likely to name an unchanged side from the team that thrashed second placed Bradford last weekend. This is despite the return of Matthew Blinkhorn from loan at Blackpool but the Hatters will be without Kevin Nicholls who serves the second of a three game ban. Chris Coyne is expected to continue at the heart of the defence despite picking up a calf injury last week.

Officials: The match referee is Mike Thorpe from Suffolk and he is assisted by Steven Artis from from Norfolk and Ian Bentley from Kent. Mike Thorpe has refereed 9 games this season issuing only 14 yellow cards, at an average of 1.56 per game, and has sent of no players. Obviously a referee who does not like paperwork!

Weather: Light showers with a maximum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius and a 6 mph westerly wind.

The Bookies View: Luton are odds on for the win with Labrokes offering 8/13 with Wrexham best priced at 11/2 with the Gambling Club and Tote Sport. Bet Direct are offering 11/4for the draw.
