PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES |
Denis Smith: "We needed a win and we've come here and got it. I thought Mark Jones showed what a good player he was this evening but the rest have been functional. That's the best I can say." Smith said Wrexham made it difficult for themselves by conceding a goal early in the second half which boosted Haverfordwest County spirits and made for an uncomfortable few moments for his own players. If we had kept it at 2-0 for a bit longer we would have made it easier on ourselves but we had a bit of a rough spell before creating a few chances on the break. But these are never the easiest of places to come and we knew it was not going to be easy. There were parts of the game that were not pretty and it's not the way I like my teams to play but perhaps the five-hour coach journey here had some effect. Even so we should have done a bit better. They have had a pretty decent season so far and they are obviously pleased to have reached the quarter-final stages. And they gave us a good workout so they can go away this evening with their heads held high." [Source: Daily Post] |

YOUR VIEW |
wrexhamlad: "Mark Jones was awesome game tonight, i know it was against lower class opposition, but they still provided a good test. his touch, tackling, passing, were top class today, and there is no doubt he should be given a game from the start on Saturday. I think Crowell and Bennett were poor tonight, and Jones virtually carried them through the game, covered every blade of grass, a star of the future for sure if he plays like tonight." |
St Asaph Red: "Thought Mark Jones was by far and away the best player on the pitch tonight. About the only player in a red shirt who didn't give the ball away and looked consistently threatening when in possession. Crowell was doing a decent Paul Barrett impression. Bennett was acceptable - considering it's his first game back after a long lay off. Ugarte did well - showed he is a goal poacher. Sam was shocking even against LOW standard. Defence did ok. Thought Reed looked worth a go when he came on as well." |
Cenotaff: "I agree Mark Jones was outstanding tonight but I disagree about Dean Bennet. I thought he had a very promising game indeed and got himself into some excellent positions and worked very hard considering he's been out for a good while, he seemed confident going forward which was good to see." |
lowlife lover: "I think Mark Jones has the potential to be 'top class', definitely - two good feet and an eye for goal. But I have to disagree about Crowell - I thought he was pretty decent. I like Crowell, I think a centre of Jones and Crowell could be worth using more often." |
