PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

Denis Smith: "That was our best performance for a while, and we've defended a lot better. Danny [Williams] has made a massive difference. In the first 20 minutes he must have headed more balls for us than any other midfielder this season. He killed those holes in front and we defended a lot better. In fact I was disappointed it was only 2-1 at half-time, because they have not realty threatened us. In the second-half they have had a go at us and pumped a lot of high balls in so we've had to dig in and become a threat on the break. That's when Carlos gives us a bit extra and Mark Jones has also done well for me today. Chris Llewellyn has worked his socks and Juan has had a reasonably good day! Juan is a goalscorer, but to be perfectly honest, up until he's scored his first he had not had the best of games. But that's what he is, he gets in there and he's dangerous. It doesn't half make a different to the team when someone can put the ball in the net like he does. If he keeps going at this rate, then someone is going to come in and take him away! Normally games against Chesterfield are extremely hard, especially those played here. They [Chesterfield] worked very had and showed a lot of character, but that was the best team I have been able to put out for some time. People shouldn't make the mistake of looking at results and thinking that today's team is the one that has been getting beaten regularly. I think Chesterfield have been unlucky that we have got players back today." [Source: Wrexham AFC]

YOUR VIEW

thefirstleedsred: "Brilliant display by all the outfield players today. Juan ran and ran Four goals, away.!!!. Time to say goodbye to Velero, appalling for their goal. Don't think he was injured. Mark Jones was superb today. Danny Williams was the anchor we needed in midfield."

Mansfield Red: "I work with a chesterfield lad who went to the game and had a couple of pints after and he said after what he saw Wrexham shouldn't go down after that he said Williams and Juan where the best for Wrexham but I think Carlos was the best for us he was great for us going forward and he got back to help out on numerous occasions can't wait till he's match fit and gets back into the swing of things"
Prodigal Dragon: "Ugarte played well today, taking all 4 goals well. Surprisingly, Chris Llewellyn did well, too, although he still isn't the partner Juan needs to play off. Good to see Carlos get stuck in, although I think he hurt his hand late in the second-half. He put some excellent balls into the box, and probably had 3 goal assists. Well done, renew his and Juan's contracts immediately we ever get out of administration. This was possibly our best effort in ages; we were energetic, well organized; and scored goals. Towards the end, Danny Williams, Carlos and Matty Crowell were all dead on their feet. This was to be expected because of their long lay-offs. However, it was a bit disturbing that DS did not bring on some fresh legs earlier than he did, for Chesterfield were getting back into the game and could have got a third."
