PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES |
Denis Smith: "There was no zip about the team. In fact after the match we even asked the lads if we had over-trained them. We started as if it was a practice match. In fact talking to their guys, they said that thought that we were leggy. They pressurised us and closed us down. It's something that teams have done to us in the past but we have managed to play around that. There were a lot of things wrong today. At the back we looked shaky, in midfield we didn't pass it and up front we didn't hold it. The better team won without a shadow of a doubt. You do get games like that so you've got to put it behind us. We didn't play as we normally do so that is a worry. I'm disappointed as there a lot of people here today who haven't seen us play before and they must be wondering how we got to where were in the league but then again we didn't get there by playing like we did today. We lost on Tuesday but I thought that we played really well. Today we lost against and this was a disappointing performance. My teams usually work hard but today we didn't look like we could do that." [Source: Wrexham AFC] |
Paul Sturrock: "Obviously you look for that kind of performance. It was the attitude and the work rate that really impressed me. I know they are quality players, they showed that on Wednesday night. But their attitude to the game has not been to the standard it should be. To be fair, they've put their hearts on their sleeves today and worked their tails off. We scored off crossed balls today," he pointed out. "People have been committed to get in the box and the front men have made the runs we asked them to." [Source: Sheffield Wednesday FC] |
