PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

Denis Smith: "I thought that I couldn't ask any more from the players, they've worked hard. They [the MK Dons] have come to work hard and try to catch us on the break, and their plan worked. We needed a break. Andy Holt should have gone down for a penalty in the first half instead of being honest and staying on his feet and that might have changed the game. We needed to get a goal early on to open the game up. If you look at what he has brought in, that team is totally different to when Danny [Wilson] took over in December, size wise, pace wise and everything else. He's done what you need to do, he's gone in and he's changed it around. It's two games this week that I was expecting to get at least one win out of. Tuesday we didn't deserve it but today it could have gone our way, we just needed a break early on. I don't believe in doom and gloom, I think that you are lucky to get up in the morning and breathe. I won't criticise the players on what they have done today. I'm sure everyone was happy to hear me criticise on Tuesday night, but they don't deserve to be criticised today, although other people might disagree with me. If you look at it, I had it quite easy today because I only had eight missing so I could pick the team yesterday.  I didn't get any phone call this morning, anybody crying off. I was in a positive frame of mind and I thought the eleven that I had out was decent and I was expecting a good performance. But when you think that in their last away performance they won 4-1 at Bradford, they are improving. It's at the end of the day, when you can't get the points required that you will be in trouble. No one can say what that total will be at the moment, but I can guarantee that 50 points will do us. It might be that with everyone beating one another that we might need less, but at this stage we can't tell. What we do need now is some wins!" [Source: Wrexham AFC]

Danny Wilson: "We knew this was a big, big game for Wrexham. So we had to make sure we came here and did a professional job. It was a committed performance by both sides, as neither wanted to lose. If Wrexham lost it would have put them out of touch. We really had to dig in today and I was very pleased with what I saw. It was important we kept our heads and concentrated on the task - which we certainly did. We put in a terrific display and I was very pleased with the way we defended." ]Source: Wrexham AFC]

YOUR VIEW

Number6: "At no time did we manage to get behind their defenders until Hector came on. For over of an hour of the game we did not vary our approach or formation and still hit long high balls into two 6'4" centre halves. Why don't we change things at half time? We cant score at the moment and its not because we cant take our chances its because we dont CREATE any."

morrell34: "Hector really should be given the last half an hour so he can have a few more chances and influence the game. Has anyone else noticed we are usually outmuscled by the opposition who seem fitter and physically bigger? Our lads don't look as if they've seen a gym. Our youth products like Robbo, Jonah, Levi and Spends all look fairly lightweight. Thought Levi should have had at least quarter of an hour as he looked hungry and a threat when he came on."
Larry: "We were poor today as we have been most of the season. In fact today looked pretty much like every game I've seen at home since xmas. Denis seems incapable of motivating the team for these 6 pointers and from what i can see we have been relegated since the 10 points were deducted."
LlayDragon: "The team's suffering from a lack of invention at the moment. On paper we should have the players to be a comfortable mid-table team, even higher. However some individuals aren't performing to their potential. The main ammunition from midfield has always come from Ferguson, but he's been chronic for a few games. Both on Tuesday and today Carlos has been very poor. I personally think that Crowell isn't good enough full stop, so a lack of form is no surprise. The defence was tighter today, but I dearly hope that Lawrence recaptures his earlier form soon. Up front there was very little for Ugarte to feed on. I'm disappointed with the result. We've managed to drop 4 points in a week at home, I'll be very surprised if we can stay up this season."
