PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES |
Denis Smith: "It was a bad goal to concede. We don't let too many in but when we do they're howlers. We put ourselves in difficult situations but we showed character by fighting back. We brought two or three players on and I think we deserved the goal. I thought we were the better team in the first-half but they shaded it in the second so in the end the score was just about right. We could do with a bit of luck like the one that Mark Jones struck coming off Armstrong and dropping in. Considering the team we had out with six first teamers missing, the lads who came in their legs started to go midway through the second-half. But this understandable as they have played very few games even at reserve team level, and no matter how much you train you need to be playing games. The game was played at a good pace and it did start to catch one or two of us out a little bit, but the lads will always battle and they have done it again tonight." [Source: Wrexham AFC] |
Barry Fry: "'For an away team, we must have had 20 opportunities to score and we played some glorious football at times, but we only had one goal to show for it and the game should have been over. In the second half, Wrexham never looked like scoring until the last five minutes when the goal-mouth scramble occurred. We cleared it once, but it has hit Calum and gone back into the mixer and they have managed to find a bit of space and score. After the equaliser, we looked a bit shaky and we shouldn't have been in that position. I was delighted with the players, their application and the ability on the ball was first class and we just let ourselves down in front of goal. The Wrexham goalkeeper made one or two wonder saves to be fair, but we should have done better. Calum could have had a hat-trick. I am disappointed for the players and disappointed for the fans who made the long journey that the performance was not rewarded with the three points we deserved." [Source: Peterborough United FC] |
