PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

Denis Smith: "Bringing back Mark Jones was possibly a bit of a gamble but it was a performance which was worth the admission fee on its own. We know what he can do but this was possibly the first time that he has produced it in the first team. His touches, his passes, all round he had a super game. Levi was a bit unlucky to be left out after having a good game at Bradford on Sunday. But it's not just him, Dibbs has had a super game for me, Chris Armstrong has laid a couple of goals on as he looks to be getting fit, Alex Smith has come back into midfield and had a couple of good games. We are getting experienced players back now and that gives us a chance of getting results. We need to get a little bit of confidence back and at time today you could see we were lacking that, especially when they got one back. We've needed to score more from set-plays and Chris gives us that option. Robbo was lucky to be up there for his goal as Dennis Lawrence had had a knock so we pushed Robbo forward. We had good movement from midfield and Alex Smith got into some good positions and you would put some money on Mark Jones scoring from the one that he just put wide. It's good now that we can pick and choose with bringing the youngsters in. Mark Jones wasn't even in the sixteen on Sunday but he did they job for us today. Today we could bring on Levi to go a job for the last ten minutes. All games are important but next weeks match with Blackpool is a big one for us and I hope that today's result will mean that we will get a good crowd." [Source: Wrexham AFC]

Roy McFarlane: "We are disappointed on our performance in conditions that we haven't played on much this season the pitch was very heavy. The one thing I said after Sunday was that we shouldn't feel sorry for ourselves and it looked like we did just that and felt sorry for ourselves. Let's not forget that Wrexham should have thirty points at this moment and not on twenty after the point reduction so they are no mugs and they should be well away from the relegation zone. The third goal affected us but the players kept going at them but nothing really broke for us in the box when maybe it could have done. But another set piece cost us a goal a couple of headers and tap home it will be interesting to look at the video to see where we were on that." [Source: Chesterfield FC]

YOUR VIEW

RogerRed: "Some Of The Displays Were Excellent With The Much Maligned Llewellyn And Mark Jones On Top Form. Steve Roberts Was Awesome At The Back. Jones Goal Was As Good As Anything Seen At Cae Ras In A Long Time, it Almost Warmed Me Up. Keep Up This Type Of Display And Relegation Will Not Be For Us."

redarmywxm: "Arguably the best performance at The Racecourse this season and arguably the best goal your likely to see as well - from M Jones. Wrexham were in total control really on a slippery surface. Man of the match Jones scored with a superb curving shot which got old blokes standing up cheering in the PGS."
Shabba Jonze: "A well deserved win today. I thought our midfield did well, Mark Jones in particular. Some of his touches and turns were class, and a quality goal from outside of the box. Smith did well at times. Dibble's kicking was comically bad and looked like it may cost us at times. He repeatedly kicked it out of touch from goal kicks, then when he wanted to find touch as a player was down, he couldn't find touch."
BrynOffa5: "I thought we flattered to deceive. After going 2 up, and looking like we were cruising, we let them back in, let them have the ball much too much, and I thought we were going to blow it. However, overall, we should have won by another 2 clear goals."
Redgnasher: "I thought some of the stuff we played today was good and we actually knocked the ball around well spreading the play etc. We had a sticky patch early second half but we weathered the storm and I thought our midfield was superb. Dibble made a good save, the defence didn't really play well but at the same time didn't do much wrong."
SE19: "All in all, we looked like the Wrexham of the opening day of the season and not the Wrexham who went down to MK Dons and Hartlepool."
