Rovers' 1-1 draw at home to leaders Carlisle on Saturday has given manager
Paul Trollope hope that his team can make the play offs. Speaking
following the game, the former Welsh international said: "Every team is
dropping points when they should be winning. We will wake up in the
morning thinking we took a decent point against the leaders, but at the
minute it feels like we have dropped two points. But Lennie Lawrence
(Rovers' director of football) says it's where you are when the music
stops that matters."
Since Trollope's appointment in September, after Ian Atkins was sacked,
Rovers' league position has gradually improved to their current tenth
position, which leaves them two points from the final play off spot.
Rovers have only won three games on their travels this season and the
majority of their 57 points has come against teams that are in the top
half of the table. The Pirates also have a good record when they take a
lead, only loosing once when they have gone a goal up and they have won
11 out of 13 games when they have been leading at half time.
Top goal scorer is Richard Walker with 20 goals and he is
closely followed by Junior Agogo who has found the back of the net 16
times this season. Walker signed for Rovers in 2004 on a free transfer
and is averaging a goal every other game with 29 in his 60 league
starts for the club. Agogo arrived from Barnet in 2003 and so far has
scored 40 goals in just over 100 starts for the club but both strikers
have failed to score in their last two games. |

the winner three minutes into injury time.
Prior to this game, the last encounters were in the 2002/03 season. Wrexham came out on top in both games,
winning 3-0 at the Memorial Ground courtesy of a Lee Trundle strike and a
brace from Andy Morrell. In the reverse fixture at the Racecourse a late goal from
Carlos Edwards secured the win after former Wrexham striker Chris Llewellyn
had cancelled out opening goals from Scott Green and Andy Morrell.
The overall record sees Bristol Rovers just edging it with 17
victories in 39 games, with Wrexham two behind on 15 and there have been 7
