The Posh |
Posh
manager Mark Wright was not happy with his teams second half performance
in the 1-1 home draw against Leyton Orient. "I am not pleased how we
performed in the second half and going from how good we were in the
first half to that display in the second period was not satisfactory,"
Wright explained to the
Official Web Site after he witnessed his team recording their fourth
draw in as many games. It got worse for the
former Chester manager in midweek as they went out of the FA Cup at
Burton Albion with the conference side scoring the only goal of the game
in the second half. At the end of the game there was an altercation
between Posh fans and players and this resulted in vice-Captain Paul
Carden making an apology on Thursday.
Peterborough suffered a
big blow when their experienced winger Dave Farrell was ruled out for
around two months after dislocating earlier on this month. Wright's midfield options were
reduced when he cancelled the contract of Australian Nicky Stavroulakis
after he failed to play any games since signing from Empoli in the
summer. This week Wright allowed striker Richard Logan to join Lincoln
and keeper Luke McShane to join Basingstoke on loan after deciding both
players were no longer in his plans at London Road.
Mark Wright also wants to make the loan signing of
Swansea striker Lee Thorpe a permanent move after the former Bristol
Rovers striker has impressed during his two month loan spell at London
Road. Due to the transfer window restrictions the permanent deal is not
expected to go through until January.

Past Encounters |
The
clubs last met four weeks ago when a late Andy Holt header rescued a point
for Wrexham after Peterborough had opened the scoring through David Farrell
in the first half.
Last season the two league encounters ended in draws and when totalling the
points up come the end of the season the failure to win any of these games
played a part in relegation from League One for both teams.
Wrexham looked to be heading for another hammering at London
Road as they trailed to two first half goals but there was no repeat of the
6-1 defeat like in the previous season as Wrexham fought back for a 2-2
draw.
In the first game at the Racecourse Wrexham left it late
as Dennis Lawrence cancelled out Callum Willock's first half strike with a
goal three minutes before full time.
Peterborough just lead Wrexham on the head to head with 21
victories in the 52 games played between the two teams. Wrexham have won 17
of the encounters and there have been 14 draws. |

Wrexham's draw at Peterborough last month started a run of
four successive draws for Posh. Prior to the draw against Wrexham
Peterborough were on a good run with three successive victories against
Rochdale, Bristol Rovers and Macclesfield. Draws then followed against
Wrexham, Wycombe and Orient on the weekend in the league along with a
goalless draw at home to Burton Albion in the FA Cup. In the replay played
on Wednesday Posh were humiliated at Burton Albion losing by a single goal
to the conference side. Wrexham recorded their first
away win of the season last weekend with a 3-0 victory at Oxford after being
knocked out of the FA Cup at Port Vale on the previous weekend. Prior to
this Wrexham continued their good home form with their third successive home
win courtesy of a late winner over Darlington. This came on the back of
three away games where late defeats at Blackpool and Bristol Rovers was
ended with the 1-1 draw at Peterborough. |
