The Shakers

Graham Barrow: Under pressure
Bury manager Graham Barrow is under pressure after only four games into the season and criticised his players for lack of effort after they ended up on the wrong end of a 4-0 hammering at Wycombe last Saturday.

"The fight and spirit we had at the end of last season isn't there," he said after the 4-0 defeat against Wycombe. "This performance cannot happen again, it's as simple as that. The lads have to lift themselves now. We have to point out a few things to them. We've been here before, I'm not a quitter and we have to get on with it."

In their other three games Bury started with a 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham and the another defeat followed when Orient came away from Gigg lane with a 3-1 victory but the Shakers did register their first win with a 2-0 at home to Shrewsbury.

Graham Barrow had a busy summer in the transfer market with seven free transfer signings and five leaving Gigg Lane including the highly rated duo of Chris Porter and Colin Richards who joined Oldham and Brighton respectively. Two summer signings will be battling out to join Join Newby upfront after striker Alan Smart was sent off in midweek. Stuart Barlow will be familiar to Wrexham fans having played against the Red Dragons last season for Stockport County whilst Tom Youngs is the other option after he completed a move from Leyton orient.

If Bury score against Wrexham they will set a unique record in English football to become the first team to to score 1,000 goals in each of the four levels of the professional game. They have scored 1,176 goals in the top flight, 2,396 in the second tier, 1,520 in the third level and currently stand on 999 in the fourth tier.

Team News

Wrexham Team News: Wrexham's starting lineup will depend on fitness tests to Dennis Lawrence, Lee McEvilly and Dean Bennett who are struggling with hamstring, ankle and groin injuries respectively. Due to the high number of injuries the Football League have grated Wrexham permission to sign Tranmere's Paul Linwood on loan for a month and international clearance was obtained in time for the defender to take a place in the starting eleven. Wrexham will be without the suspended Simon Spender for the game and joining Matt Crowell and Jim Whitley on the sidelines are Shaun Pejic (ligaments) and Lee Roche (hernia). Mike Ingham will start in goal with a back three of Dave Bayliss, Paul Linwood and either Dennis Lawrence, Paul Warhurst or Andy Holt. If Lawrence does not make it then Holt is likely to play in defence as Warhurst will be required at right wing back if Bennett is ruled out. Holt's cover on the left will again be Alex Smith with an unchanged midfield of Danny Williams, Mark Jones and Darren Ferguson. Jon Walters will continue up front and will be joined by Lee McEvilly or Liverpool striker Robbie Foy continues in the side if the former Rochdale striker fails his fitness test.

Wrexham Squad (18): Ingham, Linwood, Bayliss, Holt, Warhurst, Smith, Williams, Ferguson, Mark Jones, Foy, Walters, Mackin, Michael Jones, Lawrence, McEvilly, Done, Harris, Reed.

Bury Team News: Bury boss Graham Barrow has strengthened his attacking options after signing long term target Matthew Tipton from Mansfield, despite the former Macclesfield striker only joining the Stags during the summer. The timing is perfect for Bury as striker Allan Smart starts a three game suspension although Barrow had other options in the squad, namely Tom Youngs and Stuart Barlow.

Officials: The match referee is Paul Robinson from Yorkshire and he is assisted by Dave Birkett and Phil Bramley with Kevin Mattocks as the fourth official. Paul Robinson has refereed two games this season sending off one player and booking three.

Bookies View: Bury are slight favourites at 8/5 with BetDirect and Bet Odd or Even. Stan James pricce Wrexham at 7/4 with the draw at 9/4 with Ladbrokes and Bet365.
