The Match |
Wrexham will be looking to build on
their first victory in five games last weekend but will have to do so
with a completely new strike force. Suspensions and injuries have hit
Wrexham's fragile squad but will still fancy our chances against a team
that has yet to win this season. Being Wrexham, I just hope I do not
regret that last sentence! |
The Silkmen |
Macclesfield are still in search of their first win of the season and after
parting company with Brian Horton last month, the Silkmen now have Paul Ince
in charge. Ince is starting his managerial career with a baptism of fire, as
Macclesfield are currently rooted to the bottom of the Football League with
only five points from their first 16 games.
Ince is unable to play for his new club until January due to
the fact he has already played for Swindon following the transfer window
closed but this will not be his first visit to the Racecourse this season,
as he played in his former club's first defeat of the season when Wrexham
came from behind to beat Swindon 2-1.
Ince
has strengthened his squad since his arrival last week with two players
arriving in on loan from League 1 side Blackpool. Striker Paul Murphy was
first to arrive in a one month deal and he came on as a second half
substitute in Ince's first game in charge last weekend. He has been joined
this week by midfielder Simon Wiles who is just returning from injury after
making 27 appearances last season.
The Silkmen have five players on two goals this season and
these players currently share the honour of top goal scorer with last
season's winner, Clive Wijnhard, now playing for league 1 side Brentford.
Experienced midfielder Martin Bullock is on target to beat his seven goals
last season with two already this campaign. |

Last
season, Macclesfield collected four points off Wrexham despite the Red
dragons taking a 2-0 lead in the game at Moss Rose. Danny Williams and Andy
Holt had put Wrexham into the lead but a Holt own goal just before half time
proved crucial. The Silkmen thought back to equalise before securing all
three points with a winner in the last ten minutes.
Wrexham also took the lead in the first game at the
Racecourse with Danny Williams again on target in the second half but there
was still time for Macclesfield to peg Wrexham back.
With Macclesfield only joining the league in the 1990s there have only been
six league encounters between the two sides. Wrexham just edge the Silkmen
by 3 wins to 2 with the other match ending in a draw. |

Team News |
Wrexham Team News:
Wrexham are forced into changes up front with striker Chris Llewellyn ruled
out suspended and on loan Tom Craddock returning to Middlesbrough for
treatment on a knee injury. Both players scored Wrexham's goals last weekend
so the pressure will be on new loan signings, Kevin Smith and Maheta Molango,
with Jon Newby the other option up front.
Macclesfield Team News: Macclesfield also have two new faces in the
squad with Paul Murphy and Simon Wiles on loan from Blackpool. Striker
Murphy featured for the reserves in midweek and will be pushing for a first
team place. The Silkmen will be without suspended Jordan Hadfield, but Danny Swailes is available again after a ban. Jamie Tolley is doubtful with a groin problem.
Man in the Middle: Eddie Ilderton from Tune and Wear - 12 games this
season with 4 red cards and 39 yellows at an average of 3.25 per game. |

remained unbeaten throughout October, which included 5-0 and 7-1 wins.
Second placed Walsall are level on points with the Imps
and they face Torquay at home whilst third place Wycombe travel to
Shrewsbury.
Swindon play their second game without Denis Wise as they
play host to Hereford who are a place and two points above Swindon in the

the A541 and
take the first left at the roundabout and straight over the next
roundabout and the ground is ahead of you on your left. By

Wrexham General is next to the ground and there is a service every two
hours between Chester and Shrewsbury. There is also an hourly service

When you are there |
Car Parking:
NEWI College just before the ground and a local car park
just before the Shell Garage on the opposite side of the road and both
cost around £2.00. Free parking is available on the retail parks by
turning left at the second roundabout but do not park in ALDI or you
will get clamped! Avoid B&Q as they have a maximum stay of two hours and
issue parking tickets for £125 and the new Central Retail park just
passed the train station operates a time restriction policy. Beer and Grub:
The Turf is right next to the Kop but it gets very busy in the hour
leading up to kick off, so arrive early. The Official Supporters Club
has use of the Centenary Club on matchdays and this is located behind
the Sainsburys Stand with the entrance off the club car park. The Plas
Coch Retail Park has a pub and is normally a favourite for away
supporters. The Railway is located down the side road along the Remploy
factory at the opposite end of Crispin Lane to the ground. There
are plenty of pubs in the town centre and the closet to the ground is a Wetherspoons Pub by following Mold Road
into the town centre and is found on your left hand side. If you continue into the town
centre McDonalds will be on your left and the next pub you reach is The
Horse and Jockey and opposite that under the archway is a good chip
shop. There are more pubs on High Street and to find them continue
pass the Horse and Jockey, passing Burger King on your left, and High
Street is the junction with Burtons.
Cash Machines: The Shell Garage on Mold Road
with further machines at Sainsburys and Boots on the Plas Coch Retail
Park. If you are heading into the town centre you will pass a number of
banks on your way to the pubs. |
